Astros activated RHP Ronel Blanco from the 60-day injured list.

Blanco draws the starting assignment for Monday’s series opener against the Marlins at Daikin Park. It’ll be his season debut after missing the first four months working his way back from last year’s Tommy John surgery. It’ll be his first start back in the majors since last May. The 32-year-old has had moments of fantasy relevance at earlier points in his career, but he doesn’t offer a ton of strikeout upside, and is more of a wait-and-see option in deeper leagues.
Mariners call up elite pitching prospect Anderson
The Seattle Mariners called up top pitching prospect Kade Anderson, who is expected to start against the Chicago Cubs this Saturday. Eric Samulski emphasizes why he should be added in all fantasy formats.

Joe Musgrove has joined the Padres to throw a bullpen session ahead of his next rehab start.

There was some thought that Musgrove would come off the IL this weekend, but that he gave up five runs in his last rehab start seemed to put the kibosh on that. It sounds like he’ll pitch again in the minors before getting a rotation spot.

Twins signed RHP Ron Marinaccio to a minor league contract.

Marinaccio was designated for assignment by the Reds on Monday and opted for free agency after clearing waivers. The 31-year-old former Yankees reliever has a 4.79 ERA in 33 relief appearances for three teams this year. He has a career 3.98 ERA and a 197/92 K/BB in 183 innings since debuting in 2022.

Angels placed 1B Nolan Schanuel on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Aug. 21, with a strained right intercostal muscle.

Christian Moore is up to replace him, so we’ll likely see a lot of him at second and Vaughn Grissom at first. No word yet on what kind of absence we’re looking at for Schanuel, who has hit .276/.351/.385 in 446 plate appearances, but he can be dropped in shallow leagues.

Angels placed OF Wade Meckler on the seven-day concussion injured list, retroactive to Aug. 21.

Meckler was hit in the helmet by a pitch in Thursday’s game. Gustavo Campero was called up in his place and is starting in left field tonight.

Angels recalled 2B/OF Christian Moore from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Moore gets another chance with Nolan Schanuel hurt and hopefully will stick as a regular for the rest of the season, even if Schanuel does make it back. The 2024 first-rounder was hitting .302/.431/.512 with 11 homers and 15 steals in 86 games at Salt Lake. He probably doesn’t need to be grabbed in shallow mixed leagues, but those in deeper formats could give him a shot.

Angels recalled C/OF Gustavo Campero from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Campero, 28, was exclusively an outfielder during his time in the majors with the Angels in 2024 and ’25, but he’s gone back to catching in the minors this year and hit .313/.389/.525 over 69 games, most of them in Double-A. Alas, the Angels already have three catchers on the roster, so Campero is likely being viewed mostly as a part-time outfielder again now. He’s starting in left field tonight.

Ben Brown felt good Saturday after throwing live batting practice Friday and is close to beginning a rehab assignment.

He’s due for one more live BP session first. Brown, on the shelf since late June with a neck strain, is hoping to rejoin the Cubs as a starting pitcher next month, though depending on how his rehab goes and how the rest of the rotation is doing, he could be brought back as a reliever instead.

Tyler Glasnow will come off the injured list to face the Braves on Tuesday.

It’ll be Glasnow’s first MLB start since May 6 after 3 1/2 months off with back problems. He won’t be on a specific pitch count after throwing 77 pitches in his last rehab start, and it should be safe to start him in mixed leagues.

All-Star Justin Wrobleski will serve as a middle reliever upon rejoining the Dodgers, manager Dave Roberts said.

Wrobleski went on the IL six days ago with forearm inflammation, but he’s feeling better and threw a bullpen session today. The switch to the pen comes after he overtook his previous career high in innings and struggled in his last four starts, surrendering 19 earned runs over 19 2/3 innings. He could come off the IL in early September, but it looks he’ll be a two- or three-inning guy when it happens.

Edwin Díaz, on the IL with neck inflammation, threw a bullpen session Saturday.

Díaz is eligible to return on Sept. 2 and should be ready then or shortly thereafter. Manager Dave Roberts did say he’d be used in lower leverage spots initially. Tanner Scott will likely keep closing until Díaz can string together a few strong innings.
