Astros bring back Miguel Ullola from Triple-A

Lynch gave up seven hits, walked three and struck out two. He fell to 6-6 with the loss. Lynch held the Astros scoreless over five innings in his last start, but was a disaster against the White Sox Tuesday. He allowed three home runs in a nine-run blowout. Lynch will take a 4.13 ERA into his next start against the Guardians at home on Sunday.

Kay gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out four. He began the fifth inning with a 9-3 lead, but was removed after allowing the first two batters he faced to reach base. Kay is lined up to face the Rockies at home on Sunday. He’s won nine of 30 starts and the White Sox will likely continue to have Kay on a short leash.

Griffin tripled with two outs and nobody on in the fifth inning, but was stranded at third base. He hasn’t hit a home run in 16 September games, but has four doubles and two triples. He’s hitting .271 with a .721 OPS this year. Griffin also stole his 23rd base of the season Tuesday.

Pallante gave up three hits, walked two and struck out two. He fell to 12-8 with the loss. Pallante bounced back after allowing eight runs in his last start, but he took the loss again with the Cardinals offense unable to score. He has a 3.61 ERA this year. Pallante is lined up to face the Brewers on the road on Sunday, the final day of the regular season.

Jones gave up one hit, walked none and struck out nine. He improved to 5-6 with the win. It was a dominant performance from Jones, who is 3-0 with a 1.08 ERA and 35 strikeouts in 25 innings over his last four starts. He has a 3.87 ERA this year. Assuming all goes well in his next start against a lite-hitting Tigers lineup on Sunday, Jones will finish the season on a high note and have positive momentum heading into 2027.

Arenado knocked a base hit in the first inning, then led off the third with a double before scoring on a double by Tim Tawa. He later gave the Diamondbacks an insurance run in the seventh, taking Zach Agnos deep for a solo homer. The 35-year-old third baseman is ending his resurgent season strong, with his seventh homer in the month. He’s hit .250/.325/.464 with 28 homers and 79 RBI across 577 plate appearances.

Miguel Ullola took over with a 4-0 lead against the Mariners. Javier was expected to make another start Sunday against the A’s, but that’s up in the air now.

Moniak put the Rockies on the board, leading off the third inning with a solo homer off Michael Soroka. The 28-year-old outfielder has hit 23 homers with 65 RBI while slashing .242/.282/.489 across 429 plate appearances. While the power has been valuable, his lack of full playing time and weak on-base skills have made it mostly empty power with low counting stats. Still, expect him to be a late-round power option for deeper leagues again in 2027.

Soroka tossed two scoreless innings in Colorado before giving up two runs, one earned, in the third, including a solo homer by Mickey Moniak. He settled back in to pitch four more scoreless frames, ending his day after seven with just the two runs allowed while striking out nine batters. The 29-year-old right-hander is due to take a 3.31 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and a 110/27 K/BB ratio into one final start against the Padres in San Diego on Sunday.

Abrams has hit 33 home runs this season. He hit a solo shot off Drew Anderson in the second inning and a two-run shot off Drew Anderson in the seventh inning. That accounted for all of the Nationals’ run scoring in the 3-1 victory over the Tigers. Abrams joined Pete Crow-Armstrong as the only players this season with at least 30 home runs, at least 30 steals and at least 100 RBI. He’s hitting .261 with an .835 OPS and 102 RBI heading into the last four games of the regular season.
