Athletics activate Zack Gelof from injured list

Rodríguez hasn’t required a trip to the injured list yet, but he’s sitting out for the third straight contest due to left hip discomfort. It’ll be Henry Davis continuing to handle the catching duties in his absence. The 26-year-old former top prospect has been rolling at the dish, hitting .284 (27-for-95) with six homers, 15 RBI and four steals over his last 30 games.

Genao takes a seat with Travis Bazzana at the keystone and Brayan Rocchio at shortstop. The 22-year-old top prospect has made some serious waves, hitting .368 (7-for-19) with one homer and two RBI in five games since being promoted from Triple-A Columbus last week. He boasts impressive contact skills and has shown some impressive over-the-fence pop over the last few months. He’s seeing the ball extremely well at the moment and should be rostered in all fantasy formats, even if he’s going to cede the occasional start to Bazzana at second base when Rocchio is in the lineup.

McAdoo has just six games in the outfield in the minors this season, but the Blue Jays are clearly going to give him every chance to keep his bat in the lineup while he’s on a hot streak. Including his minor league games, McAdoo has homered in his last five games and has a .467 average with 14 RBI over his last seven games (six of which were in Triple-A).

McClanahan has been sidelined with mid-back tightness since July 31st. Since it hasn’t been a long absence, the Rays may only have him make one or two rehab starts before bringing him back. He will take Griffin Jax’s (elbow) spot in the rotation, which means Ian Seymour will also get to keep his spot.

Congrats to Enmanuel and his growing family. The 29-year-old has a 3.58 ERA in 37 2/3 innings out of the Tigers’ bullpen this season.

The 32-year-old veteran has a 2.32 ERA in 42 2/3 innings for the Tigers down in Triple-A this season. He’s been good in the minors for the last few seasons but unable to carry it over into MLB games.

Pauley will likely get the first crack at the 1B job with Kyle Stowers (hamstring) on the injured list, but he’s hit just .190 (19-for-100) with one homer, 12 RBI and one steal in 41 MLB games this season. You have to wonder if the Marlins will finally give Agustin Ramirez some reps over at 1B.

This seemed inevitable after Stowers limped off the field on Sunday. Stowers told reporters that this injury feels similar to the strain he had earlier in the season with his other hamstring. That injury sidelined him for a little under a month, so Stowers could return by the early part of September if this plays out similarly.

Maddux seemed like a slam dunk hire after he led the Rangers’ pitching staff in 2025, but things have not worked out in Los Angeles. The Angels rank 8th in strikeout rate but 24th in ERA, 25th in WHIP, and 30th in walk rate. Tim Leveque has been named the interim pitching coach.

Martinez had Tommy John surgery last June and is now in the final steps of his recovery. Given how long he’s been out, the Diamondbacks will likely want to keep him in Triple-A for a couple weeks and have him build up to back-to-backs, but he should return to the Diamondbacks bullpen by the end of the month.
