Blade Tidwell pitched 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball against the Astros on Monday.

Tidwell generated 16 whiffs and struck out six, so that’s pretty good. He was probably fortunate to allow only three singles and a double, considering that he gave up nine hard-hit balls. Yordan Alvarez actually hit three balls in excess of 109 mph against him. Still, he made it work. Tidwell has allowed three runs in 10 2/3 innings in his two starts for the Giants. He could be of use in NL-only leagues going forward, and he’s a streaming option in shallower formats with a home start against the Rockies on deck.

Tidwell couldn’t keep the ball in the park, and allowed three homers in the contest, including a leadoff roundtripper from Lars Nootbaar. The right-hander was coming off 5 2/3 scoreless innings in his previous outing against the Red Sox, but Friday was an unfortunate example of what can happen when Tidwell doesn’t have his best command. He’ll try to rebound next week against the Pirates in Pittsburgh.

Blade Tidwell tossed 5 2/3 scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Saturday.

Tidwell was outstanding on Saturday, keeping the Red Sox off the board as he pitched into the sixth. He scattered only three hits and two walks while collecting a career-high seven strikeouts. The bullpen would waste Tidwell’s strong performance, giving up three runs to blow the lead in the ninth. The 25-year-old right-hander will take a 3.58 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and a 27/12 K/BB ratio across 32 2/3 innings into a start against the Diamondbacks in San Francisco on Friday.

Blade Tidwell was charged for six runs over 4 1/3 innings but didn’t factor into the decision against the Rockies on Sunday.

Tidwell, 25, allowed only three hits, but he walked five and only whiffed a single hitter in an ugly outing for the right-hander. He had walked just four hitters in his previous four appearances, so this appears to just be a one-off of bad control for Tidwell. He’ll get a chance to rebound in Boston next weekend.

Tidwell surrendered a pair of runs in the first inning on a walk and three hits. He then settled in nicely, giving the Giants four more scoreless innings, scattering three more hits the rest of the way while striking out three batters. The 25-year-old right-hander has a 3.18 ERA, 1.18 WHIP, and a 13/4 K/BB ratio across 17 innings. He’ll take on the Astros in San Francisco next Monday.

Tidwell returns to the big leagues for the first time since late April after San Francisco moved on from several impending free agents at the trade deadline. He’ll operate in a low-leverage multi-inning role out of the bullpen.

Giants optioned RHP Blade Tidwell to Triple-A Sacramento.

Tidwell returns to the minors after posting a respectable 3.00 ERA and 10/3 K/BB ratio across 12 innings over eight appearances this season. It appears that the Giants want the 24-year-old to begin stretching out to be a starting pitcher. With both Adrian Houser and Tyler Mahle not really delivering after signing with the Giants this offseason, it’s possible Tidwell can put himself in the mix for a rotation spot this summer.

Blade Tidwell looked sharp in his Giants’ debut on Thursday, hurling three scoreless innings to record his first career save.

The Giants’ bullpen usage was a bit curious in this one as closer Ryan Walker was brought in to relieve Robbie Ray in the sixth inning. Tidwell then took over in the seventh with a four-run advantage and all he did was allow two hits the rest of the way while striking out a pair. He’s not suddenly going to usurp the closer’s role, so there’s no need for fantasy managers to rush to the waiver wire to pick him up.

Tidwell, 24, was knocked around during Cactus League play, registering a 9.45 ERA, 2.25 WHIP and a 13/6 K/BB ratio across 6 2/3 innings of work. He’ll function in a middle relief role for the Giants.

Blade Tidwell surrendered five runs in 2 2/3 innings Tuesday against Team USA.

Given that Tidwell was facing an All-Star team, he has nothing to be embarrassed about today. He gave up two homers and five other hard-hit balls, but he struck out Roman Anthony and Gunnar Henderson on his way to finishing up with a 33% CSW. Tidwell is in the mix with Hayden Birdsong, Carson Whisenhunt and others to be the first alternate into the Giants rotation.

Blade Tidwell was hit hard in Thursday’s Cactus League start against the Rockies, giving up two runs on two hits and a walk in his two innings of work.

On the plus side, the 24-year-old right-hander struck out two in the contest and didn’t issue a free pass. He retired the side in order in the first inning, but ran into trouble in the second as Jordan Beck drew a leadoff walk, Kyle Karros followed with an RBI triple and Charlie Condon plated him with an RBI single. Tidwell regained his composure to retire the next three in order, but the damage had been done. He’s competing with Landen Roupp, Carson Whisenhunt and Hayden Birdsong for the final spot in the Giants’ Opening Day rotation.

Yankees’ manager Aaron Boone told reporters on Saturday evening that the club is hopeful that George Lombard Jr. (knee) is dealing with a day-to-day type of injury.

The Yankees are still waiting on the results of the MRI exam that Lombard underwent after making an early exit from the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader against the Red Sox, but it sounds like they’re optimistic that he was able to avoid any sort of significant injury. Expect the club to provide another update on his status prior to Sunday’s series finale.
