Garcia has played just four games since late June due to a series of hand and hamstring issues. There’s a chance he makes it back for the final two weeks of the season.

It’s an extremely rare off day for Vargas with Colson Montgomery taking over at the hot corner and Chase Meidroth at shortstop. The 26-year-old is in the middle of a career year at the dish, slashing .250/.361/.482 with 95 runs scored, 30 home runs, 79 RBI and 16 steals in 627 plate appearances over 142 games.

The 28-year-old power/speed combo threat, who has racked up 19 homers and 40 steals in 134 games this season, suffered the injury on a slide into second base during the ninth inning of Tuesday’s game against the Rockies. There’s a decent chance that he’s done for the rest of the regular season with just over two weeks remaining on the calendar. Needless to say, it’s a significant loss for the Yankees as they try to overtake the Rays for the AL East division crown down the home stretch.

Orioles manager Craig Albernaz described Henderson as day-to-day for now. The 25-year-old shortstop’s left knee locked up on him shortly after he fouled a ball off his leg during the eighth inning of Tuesday’s game. It doesn’t sound like he’s going to require a trip to the injured list at this juncture, but fantasy managers should continue monitoring his status leading into Friday’s series opener against the Blue Jays.

As expected, Carroll remains out of Arizona’s lineup for the second straight game. The 26-year-old franchise cornerstone is slated to undergo an MRI on his back later this week to determine the severity of the issue. There should be some much-needed clarity on his status, including whether he’ll require a trip to the injured list, prior to Friday’s series opener against the Rangers.

The encouraging news for fantasy managers is that Caglianone, who remains out of the lineup for the fourth consecutive game, was able to resume hitting prior to Tuesday’s game in Kansas City. The 23-year-old emerging middle-of-the-order force remains shut down from throwing after being diagnosed with a mild flexor strain in his left elbow over the weekend. It’ll be John Rave getting another opportunity in right field on Wednesday evening. It sounds like there’s a chance he’s able to return to Kansas City’s lineup at DH during their upcoming three-game series against the Red Sox that gets underway on Friday.

DeLauter is back in right field and hitting second following a four-game absence with a right wrist sprain. The 24-year-old rookie has put together an excellent debut, hitting .294/.365/.458 with 56 runs scored, 13 homers, 60 RBI and 10 steals in 499 plate appearances over 120 games. He’s on pace to finish the season as a top-30 fantasy outfielder.
