Sal Stewart homers, tops Reds’ rookie RBI record

The Tigers are going to give Greene a day off to rest and recover after playing in a pair of minor league rehab contests for Triple-A Toledo over the weekend. He’s been on the shelf with a hamstring strain since early August. He’ll return to the heart of Detroit’s lineup once rosters expand this week.

Peck receives his first shot in the majors after hitting .288/.339/.502 with 11 homers and 22 steals in 298 plate appearances in the upper minors this season. Tigers skipper A.J. Hinch told reporters Peck will get some time at shortstop with Kevin McGonigle moving over to third base more often in the coming weeks. It appears that Gleyber Torres and Javier Báez could lose playing time down the home stretch with Detroit fading from playoff contention. Peck is unlikely to offer much fantasy appeal outside of extremely deep mixed leagues and AL-only formats.

Díaz returns to Detroit’s middle relief mix after allowing seven runs over 1 2/3 innings across a pair of relief appearances earlier this month. The 26-year-old former starter can be ignored in all fantasy formats.

Julks went 2-for-7 during four games with the Tigers while Riley Greene (hamstring) was on the injured list. There’s a chance he’s back as a bench option later in September.

The Tigers are moving on from Rainey after he allowed just three runs with a 6/8 K/BB ratio across seven innings of work. The well-traveled 33-year-old former high-leverage reliever has made 217 appearances in the big leagues dating back to 2018.

López got up to five innings during his latest minor league rehab start for Triple-A Gwinnett last Friday. Braves manager Walt Weiss told reporters they want to keep him stretched out as a starter heading into the home stretch. He hasn’t pitched in the majors since late July due to left knee inflammation.

Justin Hagenman (rib) will will be activated to start Wednesday’s series finale against the Rays, which enables the Mets to push Scott back to Friday’s series opener against the reeling Giants. It’s a nice bonus for fantasy managers since he’ll get to face one of the weakest lineups in baseball at Citi Field.

Rengifo is facing a lengthy absence after an MRI revealed a complete ACL tear in addition to an MCL sprain. The 29-year-old infielder suffered the injury over the weekend while making a throw from the outfield. It’s unfortunate timing since he was emerging as an impactful midseason addition for San Diego. He’ll undergo surgery at some point in the near future and is facing a roughly 9-12 month recovery timeline.

It feels like only a matter of time before Culpepper gets a look towards the top of Minnesota’s intriguing lineup. He won’t supplant Luke Keaschall in the leadoff spot, but he might make more sense than Brooks Lee in the second spot while Byron Buxton (hip) is out. The 24-year-old top prospect has lived up to fantasy managers’ lofty expectations so far. He hasn’t stolen any bases, which is a surprise, but he’s hitting .313 (21-for-67) with three homers in 19 games since being called up a few weeks ago.

Jenkins remains at the bottom of Minnesota’s lineup after going 2-for-9 with one RBI and a stolen base in three games since being called up from Triple-A last week. The 21-year-old top prospect projects as an extremely impactful fantasy contributor based on his talent and minor league production. The early results haven’t quite been there, but he’s put together some quality at-bats and hasn’t looked overmatched at all so far.
