Benge was held out of the lineup on Saturday after Benge injured his wrist while colliding with the outfield wall while making a sliding catch during Friday’s affair. He tried to talk his way into the lineup on Saturday and was unsuccessful, but it looks as though he got his wish on Sunday. Benge will bat cleanup against Pirates’ right-hander Jared Jones.

Nothing has changed in the prognosis for the 26-year-old hurler who is inching closer to a minor league rehab assignment. This was done as a procedural move to clear a spot on the club’s 40-man roster for the addition of Jonah Bride on Sunday.

The Rangers wanted to add more infield depth to their active roster, so the 30-year-old will get his first opportunity with the big league club on the season. Bride has slashed a healthy .282/.401/.425 with 10 homers, 60 RBI, nine stolen bases and a 69/72 K/BB ratio across 431 plate appearances at the Triple-A level this season. Alejandro Osuna was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move on Sunday.

The 23-year-old outfielder has really struggled with the bat during his time with the Rangers this season, slashing a paltry .255/.347/.297 with just one home run and 24 RBI in 220 plate appearances. Jonah Bride was promoted from Triple-A Round Rock to take his place on the Rangers’ bench.

It has become routine that Yelich generally sits during Sunday afternoon games as a way to get him some rest and keep him healthy for the duration of the season. The fact that the Brewers are facing a left-hander in this one only fueled that fire. William Contreras will function as the club’s designated hitter in his place while Gary Sanchez starts behind the dish.

Jesus Sanchez will serve as the team’s designated hitter while Myles Straw starts in left field and will bat ninth against Phillies’ left-hander Jesus Luzardo.
