Giancarlo Stanton hit a game-tying, two-run homer in the 12th inning Sunday as part of the Yankees’ 4-3 win over the Brewers.
This would have been an awesome win for the Bombers if they were still in contention. Still hitless in the game, they almost won the game in the 10th, but Sal Frelick made a ridiculous catch on Anthony Volpe’s fly to the wall in right, colliding with Joey Wiemer in the process and leaving Wiemer with a bloody mouth (he remained in). After finally scoring their first run, the Brewers were two outs away from piecing together the first 11-inning no-hitter in major league history when Oswaldo Cabrera broke it up by doubling in the automatic runner. Both teams scored two runs in the 12th, and the Yankees went on to win on Kyle Higashioka’s single in the 13th.
