Patrick Sandoval surrendered two runs across five innings Tuesday against the Rays but didn’t factor into the decision.
Sandoval allowed a two-run homer in the first inning but kept the Rays off the board after that. We won’t say it was an easy night for him, he scattered five hits and walked three batters before being taken out after getting just 15 outs. The 26-year-old used six different pitch types, with his changeup being the best of the bunch. He generated 14 swinging strikes on 100 pitches thrown, posting a 32 percent CSW rate. He’ll take a 4.19 ERA to Minnesota to face the Twins on Sunday.
