Kyle Tucker had a triple and a double against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
Tucker was originally credited with an inside-the-park homer on the triple, which would have been his 30th homer of the year, but the decision was later reversed. Jake McCarthy badly misjudged Tucker’s shot to right, having it go over his head, and he wasn’t all that aggressive in going to get it. Tucker also wasn’t ever busting it around the bases, but when Jordan Lawlar decided to put his head down and run the ball in from shallow right, Tucker took off from third and scored. It was an obvious mental error on the part of the Diamondbacks’ second baseman, but mental errors aren’t typically errors in MLB. As is, it was ruled a triple and a fielder’s choice.
