Robert Gasser blanked the Cardinals for six innings in his major league debut Friday in the Brewers’ 11-2 victory.
Gasser topped out at four innings in three Triple-A starts after returning from a bone spur in his elbow, which pretty well sums up the state of the Cardinals offense right now. Gasser, the PCL Pitcher of the Year last season, is plenty intriguing going forward; he doesn’t have sky-high upside, but he should be solid and he’s in a pretty good situation in Milwaukee. The Brewers haven’t committed to sticking with him, but one imagines they will after this, making him a viable mixed-league option going forward.
