Yankees placed Jonathan Loáisiga on 60-day IL, retroactive to April 4, with a right flexor strain.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone told reporters that Loáisiga had an MRI on Thursday night and that the strain was “significant”. The 29-year-old reliever will be out until at least June, but it could be longer given his injury history with his elbow. Since the 2023 season, Loáisiga has pitched in just 21 2/3 innings.

Esteury Ruiz was removed from Friday night’s Grapefruit League contest in the third inning due to an apparent injury to his side.
The 27-year-old speedster grabbed at his side after a swing in the third inning. On the same night that the Marlins had Kyle Stowers leave the game due to a hamstring issue, their outfield depth takes another hit as Ruiz makes an early exit. Look for the Marlins to provide an update on his status as soon as more information becomes available.
Who broke Dan Patrick's Sammy Sosa statue?
The I-Team is on the case to trace the culprit after Dan Patrick's Sammy Sosa statue was found in pieces at the Mancave.
  • ATL 1st Baseman #44
Braves signed 1B Rowdy Tellez to a minor league contract.
The 31-year-old slugger showed that he could still swing the bat during his time with Team Mexico for the World Baseball Classic. He’ll add depth at the Triple-A level for the Braves and can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.
  • SEA Center Fielder #94
Mariners reassigned OF Brennen Davis, LHP Jhonathan Diaz and RHP Dane Dunning to minor league camp.
Davis did a nice job during Cactus League play, but he was always considered a longshot to land a bench spot on the M’s Opening Day roster. Diaz and Dunning will begin the year as extra pitching depth at Triple-A Tacoma.
  • KC Starting Pitcher #58
Royals optioned RHPs Luinder Avila and Steven Cruz to Triple-A Omaha.
With this pair of cuts, the Royals are now down to 47 players remaining in big league camp. Avila, 24, only appeared in two Cactus League contests after spending most of the spring with Team Venezuela for the World Baseball Classic. He registered a 2.25 ERA, 1.75 WHIP and a 4/2 K/BB ratio over four innings in Cactus League action. He should get an opportunity to pitch for the Royals at some point during the 2026 campaign.
  • MIA Left Fielder #28
Kyle Stowers was removed from Friday’s Cactus League victory over the Astros due to right hamstring tightness.
The hamstring issue has plagued the 28-year-old outfielder throughout the spring and it’s possible that this setback could wind up costing him Opening Day. Prior to exiting, Stowers had been 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored. Look for the Marlins to provide another update on his status on Saturday.
  • MIA Starting Pitcher #39
Eury Pérez pitched well during Friday’s Grapefruit League start against the Astros, surrendering two runs on four hits over his five innings.
The 22-year-old phenom racked up five strikeouts on the night while allowing only one base on balls. All of the damage done against him came in the third inning as Jose Altuve smacked an RBI single and Joey Loperfido drove in a run with a ground ball. Pérez generated 13 swings and misses on 81 pitches on the night, posting a CSW of 32 percent. He wraps up the spring with a 5.52 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and a 20/7 K/BB ratio across 14 2/3 innings in five starts.
  • HOU Left Fielder #31
Joey Loperfido went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles and an RBI in a losing effort against the Marlins on Friday evening.
Loperfido drove in a run with an RBI ground out in the third inning that pulled the Astros to within a run at 3-2. He has had a solid spring in his return to the Astros, hitting .351 (13-for-37) with a homer, six RBI and three stolen bases. He’s set to see regular action against right-handed pitching and makes for an interesting post-hype sleeper as a late-round option in mixed league drafts.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #58
Hunter Brown wasn’t at his best during his final Cactus League start on Friday night, giving up three runs on four hits across four frames against the Marlins.
Brown also struggled with his command in this one, issuing three walks while striking out six. He threw only 52 of his 83 pitches for strikes, getting 10 whiffs and posting a CSW of 34 percent. The damage done against him all came in the third inning as Liam Hicks and Nathan Matroella drove in runs with RBI singles and Juan Matheus plated another on a ground out. Brown finishes the spring with a solid 2.84 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and a 20/7 K/BB ratio over 12 2/3 innings in his four starts. He’ll do battle against the Angels as the Astros kick of their season on Thursday.
  • ATL 3rd Baseman #27
Austin Riley went 1-for-3 and blasted a two-run homer on Friday, helping to power the Braves to an 8-1 victory over the visiting Pirates in Grapefruit League action.
The 28-year-old slugger did his damage in the fifth inning of this one, launching a Nick Dombkowski fastball for a 368-foot (102.1 mph EV) two-run shot that increased the Braves’ lead to 4-1. He’s having a very strong spring offensively, hitting .353 (12-for-34) with four homers, nine RBI and a stolen base in 42 plate appearances.
  • ATL Shortstop #2
Jorge Mateo went 1-for-3 with an RBI, run scored and a stolen base as the Braves triumphed over the Pirates in Grapefruit League play on Friday evening.
The 30-year-old speedster got the Braves on the board and evened the score at a run apiece with an RBI single in the second inning. He then drew a one-out walk in the seventh inning, swiped second base and raced around to score on an RBI single by Luis Guanipa. He’s expected to begin the season in a utility role for the Braves, but if he winds up seeing the majority of the starts at shortstop he could ultimately wind up being a viable late-round source of steals for fantasy purposes.
