Gott underwent Tommy John surgery in March 2024 and was on the rehab trail, though the early results weren’t great; he had a 9.95 ERA in 6 1/3 innings for Triple-A Tacoma.

Baker has been one of the most reliable closers in baseball, but the right-hander walked a pair of batters before exiting the game with a trainer. Tyler Wells converted the save after Baker exited. There should be an update on the 31-year-old’s status shortly.

Pasquantino’s home run was his 10th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Blue Jays reliever Michael Lorenzen in the ninth inning. Pasquantino’s .142 ISO is a career-low. He was 1-for-14 in his previous three games entering play Friday, so this home run doesn’t necessarily represent the start of him turning it around. Pasquantino is hitting .241 with a .710 OPS and 43 RBI.

Talk about taking over a game. Down two in the eighth, Bazzana socked a two-run shot to tie the game up. Then in the 10th, he laced a game-winning single to give the Guardians their second walk-off hit of the day during their double-header sweep against the Tigers. Funny enough, Bazzana didn’t even start this game with a left-handed pitcher on the mound, but came in when Chase DeLauter left with an injury. He’s had a rough second half with a .692 OPS and has lost some playing time, so it was nice to see him take a big step in the right direction.

Witt’s home run was his 17th of the season. He hit a solo shot off Jameson Taillon in the first inning. Witt hadn’t hit a home run since August 20 against the Athletics, a span of 12 games. He’s hitting .283 with an .812 OPS and 51 RBI.

Griffin was once again good rather than great here. The Tigers made him work hard in practically every inning and he was fortunate to escape two huge jams with just three runs on the board. He’s no longer spotting his cutter like he was earlier this season and without getting ahead in the count as often, his stuff is not good enough to consistently force swings-and-misses in the zone. He now has a 4.06 ERA through six starts since being traded to the Guardians and is scheduled to face the Orioles on the road next time out.

A perfect table-setter, Torres reached base three times out of the lead-off spot and scored two of the Tigers three runs. He’s been a great source of counting stats this season with 49 runs scored and 36 RBI through just 83 games, but only has eight home runs and has not stolen a single base.

Making his first career start after his last two outings came in long relief, Sears was effective against the Guardians. He didn’t allow an extra-base hit until the final batter he faced and nearly got through six innings. His fastball sat between 94 and 95 mph from the left side and he had no problem challenging hitters with it at the letters. Also, while erratic, he threw a few nice changeups to the many right-handed batters in Cleveland’s lineup. All in all, he looked the part of a big league pitcher despite only getting the ball in this game because the Tigers played in a double-header.

Clement’s two-run double in the first inning was his 30th double of the season and put the Blue Jays ahead 4-0 early. A year ago, he had 35 doubles and nine home runs compared to his 30 doubles and nine home runs already this year. Clement is hitting .276 with a .690 OPS and 46 RBI.

Blue Jays manager John Schneider believes that Taillon will be heading to the injured list, regardless of the results of the imaging. The 34-year-old exited Friday’s start against the Royals with inflammation in said shoulder, and it’s feasible — but not a guarantee — he’s made his last start of 2026.

Lynch gave up seven hits, walked one and struck out none. He fell to 4-5 in 52 appearances (six starts) this season. Lynch recorded at least one strikeouts in his previous five starts this year, but there’s not enough fantasy upside here to go anywhere near him at this point. Lynch is lined up to face the Diamondbacks at home next week.
