Tucker Barnhart has retired from professional baseball after 12 seasons.

Barnhart has decided to hang up his spikes after a dozen years in the majors from 2014-2025 that included stints with the Reds, Tigers, Cubs, Diamondbacks and Rangers. The 34-year-old backstop got into eight contests earlier this year with Texas and calls it a career after 920 big-league games.

Chad Stevens

Chad Stevens went 3-for-3 with a homer as the Rockies downed the A’s 11-6 on Friday.

All three balls in play left his bat at 110-111 mph, according to Statcast. Stevens, 27, made his major league debut with the Angels last seaosn, going 2-for-13 with seven strikeouts in five games. He showed some power in hitting 18 homers in 126 games for Triple-A Salt Lake last year, and he offers versatility throughout the infield. He should be in the running for a spot on Colorado’s bench if he keeps hitting.

Chase Dollander held the A’s to one run through three innings in a victory Friday.

Dollander didn’t dominate today with his 23% CSW and seven hard-hit balls allowed. One of those was a 402-foot double from Shea Langeliers that would have been a homer in 20 MLB ballparks. Still, Dollander shouldn’t need to be more than solid to secure his spot in Colorado’s rotation, and he’s definitely done that in allowing two runs in seven innings so far.

J.T. Ginn

ATH Starting Pitcher #35

J.T. Ginn was tagged for four runs in three innings by the Rockies on Friday.

Ginn gave up seven hard-hit balls, two of which turned into homers, and he also walked a pair. It’s a setback for his rotation hopes as he competes with Luis Morales and others.

Kyle Karros

COL 3rd Baseman #12

Kyle Karros went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer against the A’s on Friday.

Karros is making his case to become the Rockies’ third baseman by opening the spring 7-for-15 with two homers. He disappointed with how little power his showed last season, totaling six homers in 75 games in the minors and one in 43 major league games, and he bulked up over the winter as a result. His game is pretty well-rounded otherwise, so if keeps hitting homers on occasion, he could be a useful regular.

Tyler Freeman

COL Right Fielder #2

Tyler Freeman finished 1-for-2 with an RBI and a walk as the Rockies’ designated hitter Friday against the A’s.

Freeman made his spring debut Thursday as a right fielder after missing time with a back issue. He’ll be a lot more interesting for fantasy purposes if the Rockies give him a look at second base this spring. He projects as the Rockies’ best OBP guy, but if he’s just an outfielder and a DH, he’s probably not going to play much against righties initially.

Blake Dunn

CIN Left Fielder #59

Blake Dunn was removed from Friday’s Cactus League contest due to a hyperextended left knee.

The 27-year-old outfielder was able to walk off the field under his own power on Friday after suffering the injury and the Reds are hopeful that he was able to avoid any serious injury. He’ll be re-evaluated on Saturday.

Luis Matos

SF Right Fielder #29

Luis Matos collected his second homer and second double of the spring in the Giants’ 6-3 win over the Reds on Friday.

Matos is 9-for-20 as he works to secure a bench spot in San Francisco. If he makes the team, the 24-year-old should be in line for some starts against lefties. However, it might be best for his career for him to land on waivers (he’s out of options) and join a rebuilding team that would have a bigger role for him.

Tyler Mahle

SF Starting Pitcher #54

Tyler Mahle struck out four in two hitless innings versus the Giants on Friday.

Mahle worked around three walks in the contest. He averaged 92.7 mph with his fastball today after coming in at 92.6 mph last week in his spring debut. Both marks are better than the 92.0 mph he averaged with the Rangers last season.

Trevor McDonald

SF Starting Pitcher #72

Trevor McDonald tossed three scoreless frames in relief of Tyler Mahle in Friday’s game against the Reds.

In adding Mahle and Adrian Houser, the Giants didn’t leave any room in their projected rotation for McDonald or their other youngsters. Still, McDonald is one of the candidates to be the first man added after impressing in two starts and one relief appearance at the end of last season (1.80 ERA, 14/2 K/BB in 15 IP). He’s yet to allow a run and has amassed a 7/1 K/BB in six innings this spring.

Andrew Abbott

CIN Starting Pitcher #41

Andrew Abbott surrendered four runs in 2 2/3 innings Friday in a loss to the Giants.

Abbott gave up flies with projected distances of 454, 448 and 444 feet today, though only one turned into a homer. His spring ERA is sitting at 12.27 after three outings, but that still doesn’t seem like any reason for concern. He should, however, give up more homers this year and prove worse for fantasy purposes.
