Marlins selected the contract of C Brian Navarreto from Jacksonville.
The Marlins have decided to add a third catcher as their extra position player. Navaretto’s only previous major league experience was going 2-for-5 for the Marlins in 2020. He spent 2022-24 in the Brewers system before rejoining the Marlins and batting .229/.301/.392 in 47 Triple-A games this season.

Teoscar Hernández is not in the Dodgers’ starting lineup for Sunday afternoon’s soiree against the Rockies at Coors Field.
It’s unfortunate for fantasy managers that he’s getting his breather against Michael Lorenzen and at Coors Field, but Hernández deserves a day off every once in a while. Alex Call will start in his place in left field and bat sixth for the Dodgers while Ryan Ward makes his big league debut, starting at first base and batting seventh.
Baldwin scorching to start the season for Atlanta
James Schiano discusses Drake Baldwin's hot start to the season and the metrics that show why he may challenge Cal Raleigh for the best hitting catcher.
  • MIA Left Fielder #5
Christopher Morel (oblique) has reported to Triple-A Jacksonville with the expectation that he’ll begin his minor league rehab assignment at some point this week.
Morel has been shelved since March 25 due to a left oblique strain. He was given a timeline of 4-6 weeks for his return, which seems to put him right on schedule. It’s unclear how many at-bats he’ll need at the Triple-A level before he’s able to return and help out the Marlins.
  • HOU Starting Pitcher #70
Astros recalled Jayden Murray from Triple-A Sugar Land.
Murray was just optioned out on Monday, but he’ll return with Joey Loperfido (quad) landing on the injured list. The 29-year-old hurler allowed two runs over two innings in his lone appearance with the Astros this season. He’ll add a fresh arm to their middle relief corps on Sunday.
  • CWS Starting Pitcher #51
White Sox optioned LHP Doug Nikhazy to Triple-A Charlotte.
The 26-year-old southpaw was with the White Sox for just two games this time around, allowing one run on one hit and two walks in his two innings of work. Osvaldo Bido joined the team’s active roster on Sunday to take Nikhazy’s spot.
  • NYY Relief Pitcher
Yankees acquired RHP Wilmy Sanchez from the Astros for INF Braden Shewmake.
The 22-year-old right-hander was off to a very strong start at Double-A Corpus Christi, posting a 1.29 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and an 8/4 K/BB ratio across seven innings in his first five appearances. He’ll add minor league bullpen depth for the Yankees.
  • HOU Shortstop #89
Astros acquired INF Braden Shewmake from the Yankees for RHP Wilmy Sanchez.
Shewmake, 28, was off to a slow start at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, slashing .250/.314/.313 with zero homers, one RBI and one stolen base in his first 36 plate appearances. A glove-first infielder, Shewmake will add depth at the Triple-A level for the Astros.
  • HOU Left Fielder #10
Astros placed OF Joey Loperfido on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to April 18, with a right quad strain.
As expected, Loperfido will be sidelined for at least a week while he continues to work his way through a right quad strain. Dustin Harris joined the Astros on Sunday to take Loperfido’s spot on the active roster.
  • PIT 2nd Baseman #5
Brandon Lowe is not in the Pirates’ lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Rays in Pittsburgh.
Lowe plays against some left-handers, but he’ll get a well-deserved day off against Rays’ southpaw Shane McClanahan in this one. At least part of the day, as he’ll likely be used off the bench in a critical spot if necessary. Nick Gonzales will start in his place at second base and bat second for the Bucs. Ryan O’Hearn and Spencer Horwitz will join him on the bench in this one.
  • WSH Right Fielder #4
Daylen Lile is not in the Nationals’ starting lineup for Sunday’s series finale against the Giants.
It looks to be just a routine day of rest for the 23-year-old outfielder. Joey Wiemer will start in his place in the Nationals’ outfield and will bat sixth against Giants’ southpaw Robbie Ray on Sunday afternoon in Washington.
  • LAD Left Fielder #67
Dodgers recalled OF Ryan Ward from Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The 28-year-old outfielder will at least get a couple of days to show what he can do at the big league level with Freddie Freeman heading to the paternity list. He was crushing it at Triple-A Oklahoma City, slashing .328/.432/.588 with four homers, 14 RBI and three stolen bases in his first 81 plate appearances.
