All five hurlers non-tendered have dealt with injuries over the last few years, and the Yankees will allow all to test free agency. Leiter Jr. has the stuff to be a high-leverage option, but teams will likely be reticent of investing too much in a 34-year-old that has missed as much time as he has.

Lile is on a tear, hitting .300/.344/.483 over his last 15 games with three homers and two stolen bases. The Rockies even intentionally walked him at one point in this one. Lile isn’t a must-roster player but he’s a potential hot hand in 12-team leagues for managers needing outfield help.

Ruiz doubled off the top of the wall in the seventh inning, a ball that would have gone out of 22 of 30 MLB parks. He didn’t hustle out of the box and could have easily had a triple if he had; he redeemed himself in the ninth with a two-run shot that took the game out of a save situation. Ruiz has been getting hot again, hitting .373/.439/.529 over his last 15 games with two homers, and remains a viable second catcher or streamer in one-catcher leagues.

Rumfield, who had nine walks in the series, would have a Moneyball movie role waiting for him on a better team. He’s batting a hilarious .239/.426/.283 over his past 15 games.

Hughes struck out three. He’ll oppose the Orioles on Tuesday in Coors Field. Just because the Rockies are giving him and his 6.61 ERA an extended chance doesn’t mean you need to.

He allowed just one earned run. It could have been worse, but Tom Cosgrove stranded a pair of inherited runners. Irvin’s ERA falls to 5.62. He did strike out six, at least, but it’s hard to recommend anyone who walks six Rockies in any sort of fantasy baseball role.

The 30-year-old hurler has finally made it all the way back in his recovery from Tommy John surgery and is ready for live game action. He’ll probably need at least a couple of tune-ups there before he’s ready to join the Yankees in what’s expected to be a bullpen role in September.

The 34-year-old hurler will get a pro-rated portion of the MLB minimum on his deal with the Jays as the Rockeis are responsible for the remainder of his contract. He’ll add extra rotation depth for the Jays and could wind up working as a long man out of the bullpen initially.

It sounds like nothing more than the Yankees doing their due diligence here on the 30-year-old right-hander. Littell was released by the Diamondbacks on Wednesday after struggling to a 5.21 ERA over 124 1/3 innings between the D’Backs and the Nationals. If he latches on elsewhere, it will almost certainly have to be on a minor league deal as extra rotation depth.

Giménez played in each of the first two games since returning from a hamstring issue on Tuesday, so this could just be the Jays’ playing it safe and easing him back into full-time action. Ernie Clement will slide over and cover shortstop while Charles McAdoo starts at second base and will bat leadoff against Royals’ southpaw Noah Cameron.

Loftin has been functioning as the club’s primary third baseman with Maikel Garcia (hamstring) shelved, but he’ll get a breather in this one. Josh Rojas will start in his place at the hot corner and will bat eighth for the Royals against Spencer Arrighetti and the Blue Jays on Thursday evening in Toronto.
