Joe Boyle racked up six strikeouts over three innings of two-run baseball against the Yankees on Friday night.
The 26-year-old hurler allowed two runs on four hits and a pair of walks in the contest. All of the damage done against him came in the second inning as Trent Grisham smacked a two-run single. Boyle piled up 13 swings and misses on 68 pitches in the ballgame — eight of them on his fastball which averaged 97.9 mph (-0.6 mph) — while posting a CSW of 29 percent. Boyle still appears to be on the outside looking in for a spot in the Rays’ Opening Day rotation but he holds significant strikeout upside once he does get that opportunity.

Stuart Fairchild hit a two-run homer Sunday as Chinese Taipei held off Korea 5-4 in 10 innings.
Chinese Taipei scored its automatic runner with two bunts in the top of the 10th. Korea advanced its to third with one sac bunt, but the runner was thrown out at home on Hyeseong Kim’s non-bunt grounder to first, and Do Yeong Kim flew out to end the game afterwards. Chinese Taipei, which also got homers from Yu Chang and Tsung-Che Cheng, finishes 2-2 in Pool C play to keep itself alive for now. It needs to hope that Korea and Japan both beat Australia, which would result in three 2-2 teams behind Japan in the standings. One of Chinese Taipei, Korea and Australia would then advance by claiming the tiebreaker.

  • PHI Left Fielder #12
Kyle Schwarber went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and a walk Saturday as Team USA shut down Great Britain 9-1.
Great Britain took an immediate 1-0 lead on Nate Eaton’s leadoff homer and maintained it for four innings, but Team USA’s offense took over afterwards, with Schwarber’s homer opening the floodgates. Gunnar Henderson went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Will Smith walked twice and was robbed of a homer by Trayce Thompson in right field.
  • DET Starting Pitcher #29
Tarik Skubal allowed one run over three innings Saturday in his start against Great Britain.
Skubal gave up a homer to Nate Eaton on the very first pitch of the game, but he retired nine of 10 after that, striking out five in the process. Ken Rosenthal tried to talk him into pitching again for Team USA after his outing, but Skubal deflected the question. It’s already been decided between he and the Tigers that he’d make just the one start.
  • NYM Starting Pitcher #35
Clay Holmes worked three scoreless innings with six strikeouts against Great Britain on Saturday.
Holmes was pumped tonight; his sinker was up about one mph from last year and his changeup was up two mph. He threw first-pitch strikes to all 10 batters he faced and wound up with a 47% CSW.
  • MIL Center Fielder #11
Jackson Chourio (wrist) is expected to play Monday against Nicaragua in the World Baseball Classic.
Chourio was hit in the wrist Wednesday and the outfielder was unable to play Friday or Saturday with the contusion. The 21-year-old should be good to go in the contest against Nicaragua, and there’s no reason to think it’ll carry over into the regular season at this point.
  • SF 2nd Baseman #1
Luis Arraez collected two homers, two doubles and five RBI in Venezuela’s 11-3 rout of Israel on Saturday.
Arraez had hard-hit balls on one out of every six balls in play for the Padres last season. Tonight, he was 5-for-5, even reaching 100.4 mph on his lone out. Eugenio Suárez also homered for Venezuela, and Ezequiel Tovar went 3-for-3 with a walk and a steal. Venezuela improved to 2-0 in pool play.
  • ATH 3rd Baseman #2
Darell Hernaiz hit a walkoff homer in the bottom of the 10th to give Puerto Rico a 4-3 win over Panama on Saturday.
There had never been a walkoff homer in WBC history until today. Now there’s been two, after Ozzie Albies hit one earlier for The Netherlands. Panama led this one 2-1 entering the bottom of the ninth, but Alberto Baldonado couldn’t finish off the game, walking in the tying run with Willi Castro up. Panama took back the lead by plating the automatic runner in the top of the 10th, but the club botched a sac bunt to open the bottom of the inning, leading to runners on the corners with none out. After a game-tying double play seemed to wipe the slate clean, Hernaiz ended the game with a 374-foot shot to right. Puerto Rico is now 2-0 in pool play and seems well on its way to advancing to the quarterfinals.
  • CWS 2nd Baseman #41
Tanner Murray is day-to-day after leaving Saturday’s game against the Mariners with a right finger injury.
Murray was hit in his finger in the win over Seattle. The good news is that X-rays came back negative, so the 26-year-old infielder should be able to return to the lineup in the coming days.
  • LAD Starting Pitcher #96
Landon Knack allowed two runs over three innings Saturday in a start against the Rockies.
Knack has struggled in both of his spring starts as seen in ERA of 9.64. He’s being stretched out as depth for Los Angeles, but it’s very hard to imagine that he’ll be an option for the Dodgers or fantasy managers in 2026.
  • Angels reassigned OF Nelson Rada to minor league camp.
Rada, 20, is coming off a season where he stole 54 bases with a .292/.398/.360 slash while reaching Triple-A. He’ll likely make his debut with the Angels in 2026, and the speed makes him a little intriguing even if he won’t hit for much power.
