Grant Holmes allowed two runs on four hits in 5 1/3 innings against the Rays on Tuesday.
Holmes struck out four and walked three while throwing 60 percent of his pitches for strikes and posting a 23.6 percent whiff rate. Holmes’ four-seam fastball averaged 95.6 mph in the first inning and was down to 92.3 mph by the fifth inning, which is something to consider for early-season starts. He was at 78 pitches in this one, but clearly fatigued as the game went on, and also gave up a decent amount of hard contact with a 93.1 mph average exit velocity allowed. Given the arm injury that ended his 2025 season, Holmes feels like a risky bet in fantasy leagues this year.
