There’s no path to for Tibbs to play regularly in Los Angeles this season, barring an unexpected development, but he’s making some serious noise on the doorstep of the majors. The 23-year-old former first-rounder, who was traded by both the Red Sox and Giants last year, is hitting .545 (12-for-22) with three homers and nine RBI through five games. He’s going to cool off at some point soon, but it’s looking like he could force his way to the big leagues at some point later this year.

Kimbrel will be away for at least three days. Spencer Bivens has been called up to replace him in the pen.

Bivens was claimed off waivers from the Giants a week ago. He had a 14.40 ERA in four appearances for San Francisco earlier this season, but his career ERA sits at 4.08 in 134 2/3 innings since he debuted in 2024.

Gore experienced some diminished velocity as a result of muscle spasms that cropped up during his start against the Red Sox earlier this week. He was able to work into the fifth inning despite the issue and all signs point to him making his next start. It’s a decent matchup against the Mets, but the fact that he’s dealing with a physical issue makes it hard to trust him outside of extremely deep mixed leagues.

Matthews is back in Houston’s outfield equation after missing roughly two months recovering from a left knee sprain. The 24-year-old former first-round pick was hitting .197/.250/.332 with seven homers and four steals in 226 plate appearances prior to the injury.

Barrosa hit .143 (1-for-7) in four games after being gobbled up off waivers from the Diamondbacks earlier this month. The 25-year-old outfielder figures to draw some interest on the open market once again.

Giménez is back at shortstop and hitting eighth following a relatively brief two-game absence with hamstring soreness.

It qualifies as a mild surprise to see Pederson out of the lineup considering his familiarity with former Angels starter José Soriano. He probably would’ve been in the lineup if he were ready from a health standpoint. He’s sitting out his sixth consecutive game after being diagnosed with a fracture in his left hand. He’s aiming to make it back in time for the postseason, which seems like a fairly strong possibility. There’s been zero indication that the Rangers are considering putting him on the injured list.

Caglianone didn’t play Friday after cutting his hand being a dolt in the dugout after a strikeout on Thursday, He has been limited to DH, ostensibly splitting time with Salvador Perez in the process, since suffering a flexor strain earlier this month that has caused him to miss eight of their last 11 games.

Martínez is back patrolling left field and hitting fifth after missing a pair of games earlier this week with right side inflammation. The 24-year-old corner outfielder enters the final stretch of the year hitting .248/.285/.443 with 15 homers, 53 RBI and 11 steals in just 385 plate appearances.

It’s a best-case scenario after Ashcraft hit the injured list with arm discomfort last week. The 26-year-old righty should have a normal offseason and be ready for the start of spring training.
