Zack Gelof went 3-for-5 with a home run, three RBI, and two runs scored in the A’s 14-6 blowout win over the Angels on Tuesday.

Gelof knocked a base hit in the third inning to drive in a pair of runs. He later took Ryan Johnson deep for a solo homer in the seventh for his sixth of the season. He’d add a base hit and a run scored in the ninth, ending his day hitting .269/.320/.505 with 18 runs scored, 16 RBI, and four steals across 102 plate appearances. The biggest improvement Gelof has made has been in his strikeout rate, sitting at 22.5 percent.
Freddie Freeman

LAD 1st Baseman #5

Freddie Freeman went 2-for-4 with two homers and three RBI to power the Dodgers to a 5-4 win over the Padres on Tuesday.

Freeman got the scoring started right away, taking Griffin Canning deep for a two-run blast in the first inning. He went yard again in the sixth, leading off with a solo blast of Jeremiah Estrada to tie the game. The 36-year-old first baseman is up to six homers and 23 RBI while slashing .260/.342/.435 across 199 plate appearances.
Riley O'Brien

STL Relief Pitcher #61

Riley O’Brien took a blown save after allowing two runs in the ninth against the Pirates on Tuesday.

O’Brien loaded the bases on a single and two hit by pitches to start the inning, only to get a double play ball from Marcell Ozuna afterwards. That put him in position to salvage things, but he then walked Oneil Cruz and gave up a game-tying single to Spencer Horwitz before retiring Brandon Lowe. It was O’Brien’s fourth blown save, but the Cardinals did win tonight in 10, and they’re 21-2 when he pitches this season. He’s leaving the door open for someone else to emerge as the Cardinals’ closer, but there still isn’t anyone else in the pen that’s as good of a bet as he is.
Grant Taylor

CWS Relief Pitcher #31

Grant Taylor struck out three in a scoreless ninth inning to convert the save against the Mariners on Tuesday.

Seranthony Domínguez got an extra day off after tossing 32 pitches and blowing the save in Sunday’s loss to the Cubs. Taylor got the call in the ninth with a one-run lead and slammed the door on Seattle, striking out the side for his first save. The 24-year-old right-hander has posted a 1.78 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and a 38/8 K/BB ratio across 25 1/3 innings. It wouldn’t be a shock to see Taylor begin to take more save chances from Domínguez, who’s gone 10-for-13 in save chances and holds a 4.82 ERA over 18 2/3 innings.
Anthony Kay

CWS Starting Pitcher #18

Anthony Kay allowed one run with five strikeouts over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against the Mariners on Tuesday.

Kay labored through a 35-pitch first inning, giving up one run and leaving the bases loaded. He settled in nicely, pitching into the sixth without giving up another run, allowing just two more runners to reach base on a walk and a hit batter. Kay struck out five. The 31-year-old left-hander will take a 4.27 ERA, 1.45 WHIP, and a 34/22 K/BB ratio across 46 1/3 innings into a start against the Twins in Chicago on Monday.
Ketel Marte

AZ 2nd Baseman #4

Ketel Marte went 1-for-5 with a three-run homer in Arizona’s 5-3 walk-off win against the Giants on Tuesday.

Marte was hitless going into the ninth, just missing a home run on a deep fly ball to center in the eighth. With two runners on and two outs, down by one run, he took Matt Gage deep for a walk-off homer. The 32-year-old second baseman is up to six homers, 24 runs scored, and 20 RBI while slashing .222/.274/.381 across 190 plate appearances.
Jacob Misiorowski

MIL Starting Pitcher #32

Jacob Misiorowski shut out the Cubs for six innings, striking out eight, in his fourth win Tuesday.

Misiorowski threw just 74 pitches tonight. According to MLB.com’s Adam McCalvy, he indicated prior to the sixth that he had just one inning left in him on a night in which he had some difficulty with the pitching mound. It doesn’t sound like anything is wrong beyond that, though. Misiorowski allowed three hits and walked one. He leads the majors with 88 strikeouts and is sixth with a 1.89 ERA through 10 starts. He’ll get the Cardinals next.
Thomas White

MIA Starting Pitcher

Marlins LHP prospect Thomas White has been scratched from Wednesday’s scheduled start for Triple-A Jacksonville.

Here’s an oversimplification: White is arguably the top pitching prospect in baseball and should be rostered in all fantasy leagues based on his immense strikeout upside. The 21-year-old southpaw appears highly likely to make his major-league debut in the coming days with Braxton Garrett being sent back to the minors and Robby Snelling (elbow) facing an extended absence. He’s recorded a 4.34 ERA with a 25/9 K/BB ratio across 18 2/3 innings for Triple-A Jacksonville this season. He’s worthy of a speculative roster spot in all fantasy formats based on the strong likelihood that he’s headed to Miami in the coming days.
Kumar Rocker

TEX Starting Pitcher #80

Kumar Rocker held the Rockies scoreless over 7 2/3 innings while striking out seven to earn the win on Tuesday.

Rocker came in as the follower in the second inning after a scoreless first from Jason Alexander. He’d go on to dominate the Rockies over 7 2/3 scoreless frames, coming one out short of finishing out the game. Rocker scattered three hits and three walks, tossing 65 of 103 pitches for strikes and generating 19 whiffs to strike out seven batters. The 26-year-old right-hander will take a 3.60 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 37/20 K/BB ratio across 45 innings into a home start against the Astros next Monday.
Jarren Duran

BOS Left Fielder #16

Jarren Duran went 2-for-3 with two walks, a double, a home run, three RBI, and a stolen base in a 7-1 win over the Royals on Tuesday.

What a game from Duran, who really needed a big performance like this. The 29-year-old is still slashing just .189/.262/.331 on the season, but he does have five home runs and 10 steals. His three-run blast in the ninth inning gave the Red Sox a big cushion and allowed them to rest closer Aroldis Chapman. We’re going to need to see a few more games like this to say that Duran has truly turned things around, but he does at least seem like a good bet to replicate his 16 home runs and 24 steals from last season.
