Jacob deGrom delivered a dazzling performance in Thursday night’s victory over the Pirates, punching out 10 batters over 5 2/3 innings of one-run baseball.

The 27-year-old right-hander scattered just five hits and one walk on the evening. The only blemish on his day came on a solo blast off the bat of Oneil Cruz in the fifth inning. deGrom piled up a whopping 20 swings and misses on 89 pitches on the night — nine of those on his heater which averaged 97.5 mph — while registering an elite CSW of 38 percent. He has been terrific through his first five starts, posting a 2-0 record, 2.13 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and a 35/7 K/BB ratio across 25 1/3 innings. He’ll look to keep the good times rolling when he takes on the Yankees at home on Tuesday.
Payton Tolle

BOS Starting Pitcher #70

Payton Tolle delivered a dominant performance in a tough-luck no-decision against the Yankees in his 2026 debut, racking up 11 strikeouts over six innings of one-run baseball.

The 23-year-old southpaw scattered three hits on the evening while issuing just one free pass. The only blemish on an otherwise magnificent performance was a solo homer off the bat of Jazz Chisholm Jr. in the fifth inning. Tolle exited after the sixth with a 2-1 lead and in line for a victory, but the Red Sox’ bullpen couldn’t hang on for him. He generated a whopping 18 swings and misses on 93 pitches on the day — eight on his fastball and seven on his curveball — while posting an elite CSW of 40 percent. It looks like he’s here to stay. Tolle should be rostered in all fantasy leagues for Tuesday’s matchup against the Blue Jays in Toronto.
Gavin Sheets

SD Left Fielder #30

Gavin Sheets hit a three-run homer to give the Padres the lead in the top of the ninth in a 10-8 win over the Rockies on Thursday.

Sheets was taking his second at-bat off the bench after replacing Ty France when he homered off Victor Vodnik to complete a ninth-inning rally that saw the Padres go from down 8-5 to up 10-8. It was his third homer in 79 plate appearances this year. He’s batting .227/.266/.467 as the Padres’ usual first baseman against right-handers. Today’s game was actually the first of the year in which he didn’t get the nod versus a righty.
Mason Miller

SD Relief Pitcher #22

Mason Miller protected a two-run lead in the ninth for a save Thursday against the Rockies.

Miller’s record stayed perfect today, but he actually went without a strikeout. Tyler Freeman grounded out and Troy Johnston singled before Ezequiel Tovar grounded into a double play. It’s the first strikeout-free inning of the season for Miller, who had fanned 25 of 38 batters he’d faced this year. Last year, he went without a strikeout in four of 60 appearances and just once after joining the Padres.

LAD Starting Pitcher #31

Tyler Glasnow fanned nine and combined with Tanner Scott on a one-hitter in the Dodgers’ 3-0 shutout of the Giants on Thursday.

The Giants sent just 28 men to the plate today. Luis Arraez singled in the fourth and then was erased on a double play. There was also a double play in the second after a Hyeseong Kim error allowed Heliot Ramos to reach. The only runner left on base by the Giants was Arraez after a first-inning walk. It’s just the fourth time ever that Glasnow, who has never thrown a complete game, has finished eight innings; he did so twice in 2021 with the Rays and once with the Dodgers in 2024. He’s now 3-0 with a 2.45 ERA and a 38/7 K/BB through 34 innings, and he’ll face the Marlins next week.
Tanner Scott

LAD Relief Pitcher #66

Tanner Scott pitched a flawless ninth with a three-run lead for his first save Thursday against the Giants.

Scott went without a strikeout, but none of the three balls in play against him proved difficult. The outing lowers his ERA to 0.84. The Dodgers aren’t naming a closer with Edwin Díaz out, but Scott seems like the best bet in their pen at the moment.
Dean Kremer

BAL Starting Pitcher #64

Orioles placed RHP Dean Kremer on the 15-day injured list with a right quad strain.

Kremer must have suffered hte injury during Saturday’s loss to the Guardians. The severity of the injury — and how much time he may miss — are not yet known. Brandon Young was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk and will start in Kremer’s place on Friday against the Red Sox.
Dansby Swanson

CHC Shortstop #7

Dansby Swanson went 2-for-5 with two RBI, including a walkoff single in the 10th, as the Cubs edged the Phillies 8-7.

Swanson has mostly been hitting in the lower third of the Cubs order, and we say mostly about “hitting” as the walkoff upped his seasonal line to just .193/.333/.386. At least the power is still there, but Swanson’s got just one stolen base. He’s more of a quality third middle infielder in deeper leagues than a starting fantasy shortstop at this point.
Brandon Marsh

PHI Center Fielder #16

Brandon Marsh homered twice in a 3-for-4 game against the Cubs on Thursday.

He kept them in it. Marsh’s homers were both solo shots, and he also walked and knocked in another run with a single. Our eternally wet man has now hit safely in three straight and has upped his line to .300/.329/.500 in 79 at-bats. He’s certainly elbowing his way into consideration in shallow mixed leagues, though the Phillies probably platoon him too strictly for him to have major fantasy value. He showed why they do that by striking out in a key spot against Riley Martin in the ninth.
Riley Cornelio

WSH Starting Pitcher #74

According to Spencer Nusbaum of The Athletic, the Nationals are planning to promote right-hander Riley Cornelio from Triple-A Rochester.

The 25-year-old hurler has been dominant through his first four starts at Triple-A Rochester this season, posting a 2.45 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 27/8 K/BB ratio over 18 1/3 innings. He’s set to make his MLB debut on Friday against the White Sox in Chicago. Miles Mikolas had been scheduled to start on Friday, it’s unclear if he’s being pushed back or is being shifted to a long relief role. Cornelio makes for a strong streaming option in deeper mixed leagues for Friday’s debut.
