Just hours after it was reported that Johnson would be finalizing his interview schedule, Johnson appears headed for the Windy City. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report it, as any rumors of Johnson being the next coach of the Raiders can be laid to rest just days after he was being hyped as the favorite to land in Vegas. Johnson will now be tasked with helping Caleb Williams and the Bears take the next step after a tumultuous 2024 that featured multiple offensive coordinators and head coaches for the No. 1 overall pick of last year’s draft. During his three years in Detroit, Johnson’s offense consistently finished in the top five in yards and points per game and led the league with 33.2 points per game this season. Known for his elaborate schemes and ability to create room for his receivers to operate, Johnson is the exact kind of coach many believed Williams would need to reach his full potential as a pro after entering the league as one of the highest touted prospects of the last decade. Johnson will now take the upcoming days to round out his staff as he prepares to embark on his much-anticipated first season as a head coach.

Thompkins will likely just contribute on special teams, if he makes the roster. Through four NFL seasons, he has returned 45 kicks and 42 punts. The Bills also waived RB Desmond Reid with an injury designation. He will probably revert back to the roster after passing through waivers. The Bills also waived CB Dorian Strong with a non-football injury designation. In February, GM Brandon Beane said Strong (neck) was “going to have a procedure that will determine whether he can play.” Unfortunately, this could be the answer.

The Cardinals have made a habit of signing receiving tight ends who once generated mild buzz in dynasty circles. Yeboah, 27, fits the bill. He is unlikely to play much, if at all, this season.

Morrison missed time in his 2024 college season after injuring the labrum in his hip. He almost missed time as a rookie last year, after suffering a hamstring injury in October. He totaled three pass breakups, 23 tackles and two quarterback pressures last year. Hopefully, he can return before long.

Norton is still recovering from the ankle injury that sidelined him last year. By placing him on the reserve/PUP list, the Falcons do not have to count him on their 53-player roster. He must, however, miss the first four games of the season. He will be eligible to face the Ravens in Week 5.

Spirits are reportedly high at Ravens practices. The veteran quarterback has attended more voluntary workouts than in previous years because he wants to learn the new system and terminology. Jackson believes Doyle’s creativity will lead to “a lot of explosiveness” this season, and they are reportedly keeping the defense guessing, thus far. We like to hear that. Ravens S Kyle Hamilton said Jackson, 29, “still moves like he’s at Louisville,” which is extremely encouraging, given the injury-impacted play we saw from Jackson last season. Jackson is a big-time bounce-back candidate heading into 2026.

Whether Croskey-Merritt can participate in the Commanders’ three-day mandatory minicamp, from June 16-18, is unknown. That said, Standig believes RB coach Anthony Lynn’s “positivity is notable.” Lynn thinks the team can take Croskey-Merritt’s game “to another level and get him potentially in the lead role.” To do this, Croskey-Merritt must take on more responsibility in the passing game this summer. Lynn adds that the young back’s “hands are very good, his movement skills are very good, and there’s no reason why he couldn’t win routes.” The staff is happy with its new-look backfield, but Standing writes that RBs Rachaad White, Jeremy McNichols and Jerome Ford “are not high-volume playmaking threats,” like “Bill” is, and rookie RB Allen is still getting up to speed. Once Croskey-Merritt arrives, he must prove that he can meaningfully contribute as a receiver and as a pass protector. Doing so would unlock a fantasy-friendly role.

Singleton broke the fifth metatarsal in his right foot at the Senior Bowl, so the team has had to slowly add more to the rookie running back’s workload over the last few weeks. He reportedly worked more on Tuesday than he has at any point this offseason. That said, Titans coach Robert Saleh spoke with the media on Thursday and referred to RBs Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears as “the bellcows.” He adds that Singleton is big, fast and “learning it all,” but he must “compete his way” into the running back group.

Listing Pollard as a bellcow comes as no surprise. Saleh has spoken positively of him already. Including Spears in the “bellcow” column is notable, but we still expect him to be second on the depth chart. Pollard out-touched Spears 275 to 117 last season. Perhaps Spears can tack on a few more touches this year.

This is great news. Last week, Payton said he expected Nix would “have more of a role” at mandatory minicamp, which is scheduled for June 16-18. Today is the last day of organized team activities, so getting on the field before next week is a positive. Nix did not participate in team drills today. Payton said that Nix “will be out there for some work next week for minicamp.” Hopefully, he can increase his participation level.

Two days ago, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Chiefs and Morris had agreed to explore trade options because Morris wanted the chance to play more often. The 25-year-old, former third-round pick has logged 1,059 career snaps at left tackle and 88 at right tackle, though he has yet to stand out in pass protection. Despite his struggles, Morris provides at least mild insurance behind 34-year-old LT Jake Matthews.
