Patriots coach Mike Vrabel said Kyle Williams has “settled down” and that he’s excited Williams will “get a greater opportunity here moving forward.”

It’s unclear whether Vrabel is advocating for Williams getting more of a role in the absence of Kayshon Boutte (hamstring) or just in general, but Williams saw a season-high 31 offensive snaps against the Falcons in Week 9. Williams has just two catches all season and does not need to be pre-emptively picked up based on this news, but he’s someone to monitor down the stretch.

    Bucs waived Josh Williams.

Williams had a strong camp and even played ahead of Sean Tucker in a preseason game, causing some reporters to speculate that he could make the team’s 53-man roster over Tucker. While he likely earned himself a spot on the team’s practice squad if he clears waivers, Tucker remains the team’s RB3 heading into the season.
Robinson's injury should not change fantasy lineup
Tennessee Titans wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson was removed from practice this week after a head injury. Kyle Dvorchak breaks down why managers shouldn't move Robinson off their lineups just yet.

    Panthers released QB Kyle Trask.

He’ll remain an emergency quarterback option for the team per Jeremy Fowler, which is a nice way of saying he’s not making the practice squad either. The 28-year-old former second-round pick will look for work elsewhere.

    Dolphins waived Mark Gronowski.

Having already traded Quinn Ewers to Jacksonville, Miami only has Malik Willis on the roster at quarterback. They will make a move for a backup at some point in the next day or two. Gronowski is expected to return on Miami’s practice squad if he clears waivers.

    Steleers released Dean Lowry.

Lowry appeared in a dozen games for the Steelers in 2024. He was a backup on Pittsburgh’s stacked defensive line and only recorded one sack. Lowry suffered a torn ACL and missed the 2025 season but still re-signed with Pittsburgh this offseason. At 32 years old coming off a torn ACL, Lowry may struggle to find a spot on a 53-man roster before Week 1.

49ers TE George Kittle (Achilles) hasn’t had any setbacks and is expected to practice this week, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

49ers HC Kyle Shanahan caused some confusion earlier this week when he told reporters Kittle “took a step back.” Schefter cleared that up with his report Sunday morning that Kittle hasn’t had any setbacks in his recovery from a torn Achilles. According to Schefter, Kittle is expected to practice next week and still has a legitimate chance to play in Week 1’s game against the Rams in Australia. Fantasy managers could cover their bases by adding Jake Tonges in the event that Kittle isn’t active for the first game.

    Jaguars waived QB Joey Aguilar.

The news was first reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. Aguilar joined the Jaguars in April as a UDFA from Tennessee, where he played one season. Aguilar turned 25 in June and is unlikely to be claimed by another team. Fowler adds that the Jaguars hope Aguilar returns to the practice squad, which seems like the most likely scenario.

    Jaguars waived Yasir Abdullah.

Abdullah appeared in 10 games for the Jags last year but only logged two defensive snaps. He was on the field for 176 special teams snaps. He should be able to find a home on a practice squad once rosters are settled.

Cardinals acquired TE Hunter Long and a 2028 seventh-rounder from the Jaguars for a 2028 sixth-rounder.

The Jaguars drafted enough tight ends to push Long out of a job, but he’s generally been a pretty stellar blocking tight end over the course of his career. Long was once acquired in a deal involving Jalen Ramsey — this isn’t quite that, but he should stick on Arizona’s roster. He’s not particularly fantasy-relevant.

    Bucs waived Devin Culp.

Tampa Bay also waived/released WR Dean Patterson, WR Eric Rivers, DL Jayson Jones, S Rashad Wisdom, S Xavier Williams, S Rob McDaniel, and DT Josiah Green. A 2024 seventh-round pick, Culp appeared in 13 games last year. He only caught one ball, but it was a six-yard touchdown. He is expected to sign with the Bucs’ practice squad if he makes it through waivers.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports Jalon Daniels has earned the Bucs’ backup quarterback spot.

It was subsequently announced that Jake Browning has been released. A UDFA out of Kansas, Daniels impressed during training camp and the preseason. He completed 27-of-44 passes for 239 yards, one score, and no interceptions. Daniels also ran for a touchdown. With Baker Mayfield set to hit free agency after this year, Daniels could be worth stashing in Superflex dynasty leagues.
