Looking to put a cap on the regular season this week, the PGA TOUR heads to North Carolina for the Wyndham Championship.

There will be 156 golfers pegging it to start the week with the top 65 and ties playing the weekend.

With a full field like this, finding six golfers to make it through the cut line is of utmost importance when building Yahoo DFS lineups.

Let’s look at putting performance on bermudagrass greens and then look at past performance in the region to see if we can dig up some value nuggets.

Finding a Hot Putter

Longtime gamers know that finding the “hot putter” in any given week is no easy task.

However, we can find some likely candidates by looking at past performance on bermudagrass greens.

Let’s hop over to the NBC Sports Edge Driver tool and see who is averaging the most strokes gained putting per round on courses with bermuda greens, since the start of the 2019 campaign:

Denny McCarthy
Patton Kizzire
Brendon Todd
Rhein Gibson
J.T. Poston
Peter Malnati
Webb Simpson
Andrew Putnam
Kiradech Aphibarnrat
Kris Ventura
Michael Thompson
Sungjae Im
Chesson Hadley
Matt Kuchar
Louis Oosthuizen

Patton Kizzire ($32): If you are looking for someone that can go nuclear with the flat stick, Kizzire is a great option. He has 27 instances of gaining at least four strokes putting in a given week on the PGA TOUR. That includes +7.2 SGP at the 2019 Wyndham and +5.4 SGP last year.

Regional Comfort

They are playing in Greensboro, North Carolina, this week.

There are four states that border North Carolina. Let’s take a simple view of performance in NC and the four surrounding states, to see who plays well in the region.

Using the NBC Sports Edge Driver tool again, here are the top performers (strokes gained total per round) in those five states, since the start of the 2019 season:

Webb Simpson
Will Zalatoris
Camilo Villegas
Jhonattan Vegas
Kyle Stanley
Rickie Fowler
Joel Dahmen
Brian Harman
Seamus Power
Hideki Matsuyama
Rob Oppenheim
Matthew NeSmith
Will Gordon
J.T. Poston
Brian Stuard

Seamus Power ($31): He is a Charlotte resident who attended East Tennessee State. He is very comfy in this part of the country. It hasn’t translated to a whole lot of success at the Wyndham (3-for-4 with one finish better than 60th). However, he did land a 27th-place finish here last year and arrives in the best form of his life this time around.

Hopefully, these stats will give you some names to dive into when it comes to researching your final selections this week over at Yahoo!
