Edoardo Molinari is 22 months his brother Francesco’s senior. But the elder trails the younger by six spots in the Official World Golf Rankings and it is the younger brother who has the only victory between the two of them on the European Tour. Add to the list of accolades for Francesco a runner-up finish at last week’s Alstom Open de France, where he lost in a three-man playoff to veteran Miguel Angel Jiminez.
But this week it’s the older brother’s turn to lead. Edoardo sits atop the leaderboard entering the final round in Scotland. He has seven shots on his younger brother entering the final round, although Francesco’s steady play has kept him on the first page of the leaderboard. He’s tied for third entering championship Sunday at the Barclays Scottish Open.
However, Edoardo is only one shot clear of Darren Clarke. So on Sunday, big brother will be looking to match his little brother’s European Tour victory and not his runner-up finish to a veteran.
