The Tank continues rolling along

Last week South Korea’s K.J. Choi spent four rounds playing alongside debatably the biggest sports comeback story of all time.

How did he handle going 72 holes with Tiger Woods? Choi tied for fourth. Tired after the chaos of Masters week? I don’t think so. The former power lifter nicknamed the “Tank” kept rolling along and fired a 7-under 64 Thursday in Harbour Town to grab the early lead.

This strong play from the seven-time PGA Tour winner isn’t out of nowhere. He’s finished inside the top-40 in all eight of his starts on Tour this season and twice he finished runner-up in March – on the European Tour at the Maybank Malaysian Open and at the PGA Tour’s Transitions Championship where he fell one short of Jim Furyk.

“I like playing with big crowds,” Choi said after a practice round Tuesday in Augusta. “I will probably play more aggressive.”

Crowds are one thing that are in no short supply this week as the annual Heritage cocktail party continues for at least one last year. My bet? The unflappable Choi continues to march straight toward victory No. 8.
