PITTSFORD, N.Y. – A source familiar with the move confirmed to GolfChannel.com that Nick Watney and swing coach Todd Anderson have had multiple practice sessions this week at Oak Hill, but the two have not decided to work together long term just yet.
Watney and Anderson, the Sea Island (Ga.) Resort-based instructor who also works with Brandt Snedeker and Billy Horschel, were spotted on Wednesday at the PGA Championship working together and the source said Watney called Anderson after finishing tied for 44th at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational.
Watney had worked with Butch Harmon for most of his professional career. In May when Watney was struggling to rounds of 82-77 at the Memorial, Harmon caused a social media stir when he tweeted, “Wow N Watney +15, didn’t see this coming. Must be having some personal problems.’
Harmon followed with another tweet saying that his relationship with Watney was strong and that he was “just thinking out loud.”
Shortly after that Harmon tweeted, “Thank you to all of you who have chosen to follow me, but after a big mistake today I’m off twitter best to all. By by.” He has not posted any tweets since.
