Syracuse QB Greg Paulus will try out for the Saints at this weekend’s minicamp.
The former Duke point guard is coming off a mixed year in his one season of college football, setting Syracuse records for most completions and highest completion rate despite a 13:14 TD-to-INT ratio. On a positive note, he improved by leaps and bounds in the second half of the season. This may just be a favor to Syracuse coach Doug Marrone, who worked for Sean Payton in New Orleans.
  • CLG Quarterback
Syracuse QB Greg Paulus left New Orleans without a contract after his tryout at last weekend’s minicamp.
At 6'1/210 and possessing middling speed with an average-at-best arm, Paulus is a long shot to ever crack an NFL roster. The point guard everyone loved to hate at Duke probably won’t even get any more tryout nibbles.

Michigan is reportedly no longer interested in bringing aboard former Duke point guard Greg Paulus as a quarterback candidate.
And that ends that. Paulus may end up playing elsewhere, but it appears that his relationship with Rich Rodriguez is over before it got started.
  • CLG Quarterback
Former Duke point guard Greg Paulus will join Michigan’s football team and be given an opportunity to compete for the starting quarterback job this fall.
Paulus, an All-American quarterback in high school, will graduate from Duke in June. He has one year of football eligibility and will enroll as a graduate student at Michigan. Paulus recently worked out for the Packers.
  • CLG Quarterback
Former Duke PG Greg Paulus will join the Syracuse football team this fall, according to ESPN’s Joe Schad.
It’s a much better fit than Michigan. SU’s new coach, Doug Marrone, is New Orleans’ old offensive coordinator, figures to run a pro-style offense, and has some history with “short” QBs. Paulus still faces an uphill battle to start.
  • CLG Quarterback
Syracuse QB Greg Paulus will work out for scouts at Thursday’s pro day.
Paulus started in his only year at Syracuse, setting records for most completions and highest completion rate despite a 4-8 record and just 13 TDs to go with 14 INTs. The former Duke point guard was not invited to the Combine.
  • CLG Quarterback
Syracuse QB Greg Paulus measured in at 6'1 1/2 and 210 pounds at the Orange Pro Day on Thursday.
Paulus bulked up 30 pounds during his one year under Doug Marrone after playing at 180 as Duke’s point guard. He also ran a 4.89 forty, and posted a vertical jump of 28 1/2 inches with an 8-foot-7 broad jump. Paulus was a fine college athlete, but he has no chance of getting drafted by the NFL this April.
