Pugh may have been concussed for the second time this year, as his helmet banged hard on the turf. He was playing for starter Charles Godfrey, who was forced out with a shoulder injury.

Both Pugh and DT Andre Neblett will miss Sunday’s game as they continue to deal with post-concussion issues. Ogemdi Nwagbuo replaces Neblett along the defensive front while Jonathan Nelson provides depth behind Charles Godfrey and Sharrod Martin at safety.

Pugh broke the news on his Twitter account. A 2010 sixth-round pick, Pugh appeared in 27 games for the Panthers the past two seasons, notching 31 tackles and one pick. Pugh should take Jordan Bernstine’s (knee, injured reserve) place on special teams and as a reserve safety.

Godrey has yet to practice this week, so there’s a chance he will miss Blaine Gabbert’s first career start. Jordan Pugh, who has seen time in place of Godfrey on nickel downs, is the fill-in. Shadow corner Chris Gamble tweaked his ankle in Thursday’s practice, but it’s not believed to be serious enough to keep him out this week.

Pugh was subbing in for Sherrod Martin, who was declared done for the day at halftime with an “illness.” Newly acquired Jermale Hines is suddenly a first-teamer.

Gomes appeared in 30 games over the last two years for the Skins, compiling 75 tackles and one interception. His inability to improve in coverage led to him losing out to Jordan Pugh and Jose Gumbs.

Pugh will play on special teams in the Divisional Round.

Pugh, 26, has now worked out for the Bears and Colts since being released by the Saints earlier in the offseason. He’s mostly a special teams player.

Pugh was cut loose by the Saints earlier this offseason. Now 26, he appeared in four games for the Redskins last season.

The fourth-year journeyman had appeared in just three games this season after suiting up for 13 in 2012. He had played only six defensive snaps.
