Eagles placed TE Josh Perkins (undisclosed) on season-ending injured reserve.
Perkins is officially done for the year since he was placed on IR prior to September 4. He was scheduled to accrue $825,000 on the final year of his contract but will instead hit the market as an unrestricted free agent in the spring. The team signed CB Trevor Williams in a corresponding move.

  • WAS Tight End #86
Zach Ertz (ribs, back) practiced again Thursday.
Still feeling the effects of a cracked rib and lacerated kidney, Ertz didn’t do much at Wednesday’s session and is likely headed for another limited tag Thursday. He’s yet to be cleared for contact. If Ertz—who led the team in receiving yards (916) and catches (88) during the regular season—can’t go against the Seahawks in Sunday’s playoff opener, Dallas Goedert would slot into a near every-down role at tight end. Practice-squad call-up Josh Perkins would also see enhanced usage.
  • FA Tight End #89
Josh Perkins caught 4-of-6 targets for 50 yards and one touchdown in the Eagles’ Week 17 win over the Giants.
With Zach Ertz (ribs, kidney) out, Perkins took over No. 2 TE duties in this two-TE offense and caught Carson Wentz’s lone touchdown on a rollout play to the right where Wentz threw all the way back to the left to Perkins in the end zone from 20-plus yards out. Ertz figures to be able to tough it out for the Wild Card round.
  • FA Tight End #89
Eagles promoted TE Josh Perkins to the active roster.
It’s a bad sign for Zach Ertz’s (questionable, hamstring) status. Perkins will serve as the Eagles’ No.2 tight end if Ertz sits.
