Raiders waived or released WR Juron Criner, QB Trent Edwards, and OG Lucas Nix.
Criner was shining at spring practices, and was even called “far and away” the best receiver at OTAs. It didn’t translate when the pads came on. Criner has good size at 6'3/220. But he’s never been able to stay healthy. He ended up catching 2-of-4 targets for 22 yards this preseason. Edwards is a journeyman.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Raiders WR Juron Criner came down with an ankle injury during Monday’s practice.
Criner was moving “slightly better” on Tuesday, but he now joins Denarius Moore (hamstring) as questionable for the opener. With so many question marks at wide receiver, the Raiders beat writers expect a heavier than normal workload for Darren McFadden versus the Chargers.
  • FA Wide Receiver #13
Raiders rookie WR Rod Streater will start in Saturday’s preseason game against the Lions.
Both Denarius Moore (hamstring) and Jacoby Ford (foot) are out. Streater, an undrafted rookie out Temple, has been extremely impressive all offseason long while outplaying fifth-rounder Juron Criner. He has 13 catches for 109 yards through two preseason games. The longer the injuries to Moore and Ford linger, the more appeal Streater has as a re-draft flier.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Raiders rookie WR Juron Criner finished the preseason with four catches for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
Criner blew up a bit in the third preseason game against Detroit, making highlight-reel catches facing backup defenders. He’s got depth-chart climbing to do, but has shown enough promise to be on the radar in Dynasty leagues.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Fifth-round pick Juron Criner made his first two catches in Oakland’s Week 4 loss to the Broncos, gaining 29 yards.
Active for just the second time this season, Criner drew three targets. Although it’s nice that he’s finally off the schneid, Criner isn’t close to fantasy relevance in the Raiders’ dysfunctional passing attack.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Raiders WR Juron Criner (ankle) and LG Cooper Carlisle (back) both participated in practice on Saturday.
Criner was injured in Monday’s practice and is officially questionable for Monday night. The question marks are numerous in the Oakland receiving corps for Week 1. Carlisle is listed as questionable, but it’s a good sign that he’s practicing.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Juron Criner reeled in four passes for 26 yards in Week 13 versus the Browns.
Criner did see nine targets on the day, but they weren’t turned into much production. The rookie is nothing more than the fourth or fifth option in the Oakland passing attack. Leave him on the waiver wire.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Juron Criner caught three passes for 23 yards and his first career touchdown in Week 11 against the Saints.
Criner was targeted six times on the afternoon, which was good enough for third-most on the team. He entered the game with just four catches on the season, so he’s not likely to be a fantasy option moving forward.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Raiders placed WR Juron Criner on injured reserve with an AC sprain in his right shoulder, ending his season.
Criner has dealt with injures all season and wasn’t close to returning from a shoulder issue suffered in Week 9. The former fifth-round pick will compete for a roster spot in 2014.
  • FA Wide Receiver
Raiders WR Juron Criner has been diagnosed with an AC sprain in his right shoulder.
Criner finally got healthy and on the active list for Week 9, contributing three catches for 22 yards. Now the oft-injured possession receiver is back on the shelf.
