Browns DT Malik McDowell was arrested on charges of aggravated battery on a police officer, resisting arrest, and exposing sex organs in public Monday in Deerfield Beach, Fla.
McDowell was roaming around outside of a school fully naked and eventually got into a fight with police after the came to arrest him. There’s obviously something very wrong with McDowell’s mental state. He was tasered by officers on scene and booked under the above charges. The 25-year-old former second-round pick of the Seahawks got a second chance with the Browns this season after he spent 11 months in jail for assaulting a police officer. His short-lived career is likely over.

    Browns signed DT Malik McDowell.
Seattle’s former 2017 second-round pick, McDowell has yet to play an NFL snap after injuring himself in a serious ATV incident and, most recently, assaulting a police officer and serving 11 months in jail. It’s a questionable addition, to say the least. He’ll turn 25 in June.

Free agent DT Malik McDowell is “pursuing a return to the NFL.”
McDowell has been out of the league since 2017. He’s medically cleared from the ATV accident that ended his career in Seattle, but there’s unlikely to be much league interest. 24-year-old McDowell has had multiple off-field arrests, with his most recent a February 2019 OVI charge. He last worked out for the Dolphins in October.

Free agent DL Malik McDowell was sentenced to 11 months in jail.
McDowell pled guilty on his charges, which included simple assault of a police officer, operating under the influence, obstructing justice and driving with a suspended license. It’s safe to say McDowell’s chances of getting another chance in the NFL are low. The Seahawks are currently going after McDowell’s $800,000 signing bonus.

NFL suspended free agent DL Malik McDowell two games.
McDowell was charged with simple assault of a police officer, operating under the influence, obstructing justice and driving with a suspended license following a February arrest in Lathrup Village, Michigan. A second-round pick of the Seahawks in 2017, McDowell never saw the field during his time in Seattle, missing his rookie year due to injuries suffered in an ATV accident. Being suspended on top of his current legal issues won’t help the 23-year-old’s NFL prospects.

The Athletic’s Michael-Shawn Dugar considers it “extremely doubtful” free agent DL Malik McDowell will ever gain medical clearance to resume his career.
“He’s trying to catch on with somebody,” were the words of McDowell’s attorney, who has advised his client not to speak with the media. That’s because McDowell is facing felony charges in a pair of recent legal issues. Although he just turned 23, McDowell seems to have thrown up too many obstacles on his way toward appearing on the NFL gridiron.

Former Seahawks second-round DL Malik McDowell is facing three charges from two separate incidents.
According to The Detroit News, McDowell allegedly fought with police officers after being stopped for suspicion of drunk driving back in February. He is also facing charges of receiving and concealing stolen property after an allegedly stolen truck was found in his garage. McDowell claims he bought the truck from a man on the street. In addition to these issues, the Seahawks are suing McDowell to recoup $800,000 of his signing bonus. McDowell’s agent said the former second rounder is ready to resume his career, but these legal issues make an NFL return unlikely.

The Seahawks have sued ex-second rounder Malik McDowell in an effort to recoup $800,000 in forfeited signing bonus money.
McDowell was ordered to pay the money back by an arbitrator but evidently has failed to do so. McDowell neither contested nor appealed the decision. The No. 35 overall pick of the 2017 draft, McDowell’s remaining guarantees were voided after he suffered a severe head injury in an ATV accident that summer. Still only 23 next month, McDowell said in March that he was ready to resume his career. He visited the Cowboys.

Speaking Monday, player rep Drew Rosenhaus said free agent DT Malik McDowell is ready to resume his career after spending 2018 out of the league.
The No. 35 overall pick of the 2017 draft, McDowell missed his entire rookie season after an ATV accident left him with a severe head injury. He was waived by the Seahawks last July and spent 2018 out of the league. Per Rosenhaus, McDowell has now been cleared by “independent” doctors after the Seahawks refused to clear him. “We’re confident he’s going to be back and playing this year,” Rosenhaus said. McDowell turns 23 in June.

Seahawks selected Michigan State DL Malik McDowell with the No. 35 overall pick of the 2017 NFL draft.
McDowell (6’6/295) made 23 starts in three seasons as a Spartan, tallying 24.5 career tackles for loss with 7.5 sacks and two forced fumbles. He was named second-team All-Big Ten by the conference’s coaches as both a sophomore and junior. A 48th-percentile SPARQ athlete with experience rushing on both the perimeter and interior, McDowell created disruption from all alignments at Michigan State. NFL scouts have ripped McDowell’s work ethic, motor, and poor pre-draft interviews, but he possesses all the physical traits of a plus NFL starter. He’s a boom-bust prospect whose ceiling is up to him and the Seahawks have succeeded with picks like this in the past.
