The OKC Thunder have signed Melvin Frazier Jr. to a two-way contract on Wednesday.
They let go of Olivier Sarr to make room for him, and Sarr was probably just playing too well for their liking. Under normal circumstances, Frazier wouldn’t have an immediate spot in the rotation, but it is the Thunder, so you never know. Frazier Jr. was the 35th pick in the 2018 draft and appeared in 29 games for the Magic from 2018-2020, but most recently got time in the G-League, where he averaged 13.1 points per game this season.

The Thunder have waived Olivier Sarr in order to make room for new two-way signing Melvin Frazier Jr. on Wednesday.
In typical Thunder fashion, they’re waiving a player who double-doubled in 39 minutes of action last night and has scored in double figures in five straight. If we’ve learned anything from this team, it’s that Frazier Jr. could easily start tonight as OKC is notorious for throwing their brand new signings in their starting lineup not even a day after inking them to a deal. Your guess on who their first five will be tonight is as good as ours.

The Magic will not be picking up their team option on Melvin Frazier for the 2020-21 season.
Regardless of where Frazier winds up, he won’t be worth monitoring in fantasy hoops.

Melvin Frazier (back) will be available to play in Game 5 against the Bucks on Saturday.
He’ll be available, but there are no guarantees he’ll get out there.

Melvin Frazier (back) is questionable for Game 5 against the Bucks on Wednesday.
He is not a part of the rotation in Orlando.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #6
Melvin Frazier (back) has been ruled out for Game 4 vs. the Bucks.
There’s no fantasy impact here with Frazier out of the rotation.

  • NBA Shooting Guard #6
Melvin Frazier (lower back soreness) is listed as questionable for Monday’s game vs. the Bucks.
Even if Frazier is cleared to play, it’s highly unlikely that he cracks the rotation.

Melvin Frazier (back) has been ruled out for Game 3 against the Bucks on Saturday.
He was headed for a DNP-CD, anyway.

Nikola Vucevic hit 10-of-11 shots and three 3-pointers for 23 points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal in just 26 minutes of Thursday’s 133-127 win over the Pelicans.
D.J. Augustin, who came off the bench, hit 7-of-10 shots for 22 points and six assists, and James Ennis, Wesley Iwundu, Markelle Fultz, Vic Law and Melvin Frazier Jr. all finished in double digits tonight. The Magic are hoping to get Terrence Ross, Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon healthy for the playoffs, but if any of them sit out against the Bucks, guys like Augustin, Ennis and Iwundu might be in play for DFS.

Melvin Frazier Jr. scored a career-high eight points on Sunday, shooting 3-of-5 with two 3-pointers in 19 minutes.
He shot 3-of-5 from the field with a pair of 3-pointers and a pair of steals. It’s nice to see him knock down shots in limited minutes, but nothing suggests he’ll suddenly be gifted a bigger role.
