Jaguars selected Florida State CB Mike Harris with the No. 176 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft.
Harris was the Seminoles’ nickel back, covering the slot on passing downs before future NFL picks Xavier Rhodes and Greg Reid. He recorded five interceptions in two seasons after a JUCO transfer. Harris goes 5-foot-10, 181 and figures to compete for the same role as well as playing special teams in Jacksonville.

The Jaguars are projecting sixth-round pick Mike Harris as a sub-package corner with special teams value.
Harris was primarily a slot corner at Florida State. “He played nickel, he played corner, played a little bit of safety,” Jaguars director of player personnel Terry McDonough explained. “He’s a solo tackler on punt cover and on kick cover. ... This part of the draft, you’re looking for special teams players.”

Jaguars signed sixth-round CB Mike Harris to a four-year contract.
A junior college transfer, Harris finished his Florida State career with 99 career tackles, 15 passes defensed and five interceptions. The Jaguars envision Harris as an impact special teamer who could emerge as the nickel cornerback down the line.

Jaguars second-year CB Mike Harris is expected to compete with Marcus Trufant for the nickel corner job.
It sounds like third-round rookie Dwayne Gratz and 28-year-old Alan Ball are expected to start outside. If it’s between Trufant and Harris, we’d expect veteran Trufant to win out as he helps install coach Gus Bradley’s defense. Harris, at 5-foot-10 and 188 pounds, doesn’t quite fit the mold that Bradley likes for corners, and he may even be on the roster bubble.

Giants DC Steve Spagnuolo said slot corner remains “a pretty big unanswered question.”
Trumaine McBride should be viewed as the favorite for the job, but Spags also mentioned Josh Gordy and Mike Harris as options. With Prince Amukamara and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie outside, the Giants have a glut of talent at corner. New York will hope that strength can hide their deficiencies at safety.

    Giants signed CB Mike Harris.
A third-year sixth rounder, Harris was signed off the Lions’ practice squad. Harris will provide depth as Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (ankle, hamstring) works his way back to 100 percent health.
