The 32-year-old Riggs will get to be a regular in Japan after struggling to land bench jobs in MLB. He hit just .216 in 153 career at-bats in the majors, but he’s turned into quite the Triple-A slugger as he’s gotten older.

Riggs is no longer a legitimate option at second base, but he has turned into quite the hitter as he’s gotten older. He can be a useful bench player.

Riggs made a nice impression, going 7-for-16 with five RBI, but the Angels only planned to keep one utility infielder and that’s Benji Gil’s job.

Riggs, who was hitting .294 with 14 homers, 82 RBI, and eight stolen bases in 394 at-bats for Salt Lake, will take over Benji Gil’s job. He’s not an option in AL-only leagues.

For reasons only Mike Scioscia knows, Riggs has started over Robb Quinlan four out of the last five games. If he continues to hit, he could pick up enough playing time to have some value in AL-only leagues. See how he does in the next few games before making your move.

He will add infield depth to the depleted Angels’ lineup, but is not worth a fantasy roster spot.

Riggs would be a better option at third base than Shane Halter while both Troy Glaus and Garret Anderson are out. Chone Figgins could become the regular third baseman after Anderson returns, but until then, Riggs could have a little fantasy value in AL-only leagues. Keep an eye on the situation.
