Yankees optioned OF Jasson Domínguez to Triple-A, RHP Kervin Castro and RHP Yerry de los Santos to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre; Reassigned C Ali Sánchez, C Payton Henry and OF Kenedy Corona to minor league camp.
The Yankees had said all along that regardless of how he performed during the spring, it was likely that the Martian would be starting the year at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, and that’s where he’ll head despite slashing .325/.378/.600 with three homers, 10 RBI and three stolen bases in 45 plate appearances during Grapefruit League play. He has all of the skills to be an impact fantasy contributor, but it’ll take an injury for him to get enough playing time with the Bombers to bring that to fruition.

Jasson Domínguez is in left field and leading off Saturday’s Grapefruit League lid-lifter against the Tigers.
Domínguez enters a pivotal spring training without a clear avenue to regular playing time after New York re-signed veterans Cody Bellinger and Trent Grisham earlier this offseason. The 23-year-old former top prospect could potentially wind up back at Triple-A to continue his development by playing everyday. These situations have a way of sorting themselves out but it’s clear that Domínguez will offer minimal fantasy appeal in a reduced role at the highest level. Here is the full lineup: Domínguez (LF), Aaron Judge (RF), Ryan McMahon (3B), Paul Goldschmidt (DH), Seth Brown (1B), Paul DeJong (SS), Spencer Jones (CF), Max Schuemann (2B) and Ali Sánchez (C).

Yankees signed C Ali Sánchez to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Every team needs depth, but the rest of the AL East is making big moves to fill out their MLB rosters, and the Yankees are just signing players around the fringes. Sánchez has just 133 MLB plate appearances in his four MLB seasons, so the 28-year-old will likely just be organizational depth.

Red Sox C Ali Sánchez elected free agency.
Sánchez officially heads to the open market with Boston’s playoff run in the books. The 28-year-old backstop went 0-for-2 at the dish in four games for the Red Sox during the regular season. He still has a chance to get a World Series ring with Toronto still alive in the postseason. He got into eight contests for the Blue Jays earlier this season.
  • BOS Catcher #18
Red Sox sent C Ali Sánchez outright to Triple-A Worcester.
One imagines he’ll accept the assignment, just in case he’s needed in October. Sánchez was 0-for-2 in four appearances for the Red Sox. He’s a lifetime .183/.220/.233 hitter in 133 plate appearances.
  • BOS Catcher #18
Red Sox designated C Ali Sánchez for assignment.
The 28-year-old backstop was acquired from the Mets for cash considerations at the beginning of September. He went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in four games with the Red Sox. There’s a chance that he could pass through waivers unclaimed and continue to function as extra catching depth at the Triple-A level.

Red Sox acquired C Ali Sánchez from the Mets for cash considerations.
Sánchez, who is being added to the major league roster, spent a few days with the Red Sox last month when Carlos Narváez was beat up, but he was outrighted and then signed with the Mets 10 days ago. Now he’s back to give Boston a third catcher, allowing for some extra pinch-hitting opportunities. He probably won’t start games.

Mets signed C Ali Sánchez to a minor league contract.
Sánchez fortifies New York’s catching depth with Francisco Alvarez on the injured list recovering from a UCL sprain in his right thumb. The 28-year-old journeyman backstop was removed from Boston’s 40-man roster earlier this week.

Red Sox sent C Ali Sánchez outright to Triple-A Worcester.
The 28-year-old backstop had been designated for assignment on Monday but he passed through waivers unclaimed and will continue to function as extra catching depth for the Red Sox at the Triple-A level. Sánchez hit just .227 (5-for-22) with zero homers or RBI in his limited action with the Red Sox.

Red Sox designated C Ali Sánchez for assignment.
Sánchez, picked up as insurance when Carlos Estévez was dealing with knee soreness, made one appearance during his week on the roster, lining out as a pinch-hitter.
