White Sox purchased the contract of RHP Andre Rienzo from Triple-A Charlotte.
Rienzo was suspended early in the 2012 season for PED use, but finished with an impressive 2.53 ERA and 113/42 K/BB ratio in 103 1/3 innings between High-A Winston-Salem, Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte. Recently ranked as the organization’s No. 7 prospect by Baseball America, the 24-year-old could make an impact in the big leagues as soon as next season.

Andre Rienzo (finger) expects to make his scheduled start Thursday against the Royals.
Rienzo was scratched from his turn in the White Sox rotation last week due to a blister on his pitching hand. The right-hander is not a good fantasy streamer vs. KC.

Andre Rienzo has been scratched from Friday’s start against the Tigers due to a finger issue.
It’s not clear exactly what he’s dealing with, but obviously it’s bad enough that the White Sox don’t want to risk it. Dylan Axelrod will get the ball in Rienzo’s place.

Rienzo missed his previous start with a blister. The defeat tonight was his third in four starts, leaving him with a 2-3 record and a 4.82 ERA in 10 starts overall. He’ll probably go into next year sixth or seventh on the White Sox’s starting pitching depth chart.

Andre Rienzo surrendered seven runs -- five earned -- in six innings to the Astros on Monday.
Rienzo gave up three homers, matching his total from his first five starts. Now that the easy part of his schedule is finish, it’s time to drop him in AL-only leagues.

Andre Rienzo allowed three runs -- none earned -- in seven innings in a no-decision against the Indians on Tuesday.
Rienzo gave up five hits and walked three, striking out six in his major league debut. The right-hander started in place of Jake Peavy, who may be dealt in the next 18 hours. If Peavy does move, Rienzo has certainly earned another start. The 25-year-old should be grabbed in AL-only leagues if he isn’t owned already.

Andre Rienzo surrendered four earned runs in 5 1/3 innings Saturday in a no-decision against the Twins.
Chicago wound up winning late, no thanks to Rienzo. He let up seven hits -- two homers -- and walked five batters. This regression should not have been unexpected.
