Meyer will take Odrisamer Despaigne, who was optioned to New Orleans on Wednesday. Meyer was a 29th-round selection in 2015 out of Minnesota, and the 25-year-old right-hander registered a 4.09 ERA and a 39/14 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 50 2/3 innings with the Baby Cakes in 2018.

Meyer’s stay with the big league club lasted just a couple of days this time around. He’s being sent out to make room for Pablo Lopez, who is scheduled to start for the Fish on Saturday. Meyer should get another chance with the Marlins later this summer.
