    Angels re-signed OF BJ Boyd to a minor league contract.
    Boyd inked a minor league contract last summer with the Angels after putting up some impressive numbers with the Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League. The 29-year-old outfielder tore the cover off the ball, hitting .345/.424/.510 with six homers and nine steals in 68 games for Single-A Inland Empire. He figures to get an extended look at Triple-A Salt Lake this upcoming season.

    Boyd was hitting an absurd .346/.431/.564 with three homers and three steals across 65 plate appearances this season for the Lancaster Barnstormers of the independent Atlantic League. The 28-year-old outfielder, who was a fourth-round pick of the Athletics back in 2012, tore the cover off the ball last year in the Twins’ minor-league system and has earned another look in affiliated ball this summer with the Angels.

    Athletics outfield prospect B.J. Boyd hit his second home run of the season for Low-A Beloit on Saturday.
    The home run was Boyd’s second in three games, bringing his season line up to .276/.354/.431 through 15 games. He has seven walks and nine strikeouts to go with getting caught stealing three times and zero stolen bases. Boyd profiles as a solid #2 hitter in a lineup who hits 10-15 home runs and hits .280 while playing good defense in left field.
