Padres signed RHP Blake Cederlind to a minor league contract.
The 27-year-old right-hander was released by the Pirates at the end of May. He has appeared in just five games this year at Single-A Bradenton where he posted a 13.50 ERA, 2.00 WHIP and a 6/6 K/BB ratio over six innings of work. He’ll add minor league bullpen depth for the Padres.

    Pirates released RHP Blake Cederlind.
Cederlind’s stuff never quite bounced back following a pair of elbow procedures, including Tommy John surgery back in 2021, and the Pirates have elected to move on. The 27-year-old righty made five relief appearances for Pittsburgh during the pandemic-shortened 2020 campaign and hasn’t pitched in the majors since.

Blake Cederling (elbow) threw a bullpen session earlier this week.
The 27-year-old has struggled with injuries since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2021 and an arthroscopic procedure in 2022. He has played in a professional game since 2020 so it is a good thing to hear that he is healthy entering spring.

Pirates sent RHP Blake Cederlind outright to Triple-A Indianapolis.
The 26-year-old hurler underwent Tommy John surgery in March of 2021 and is still working his way back. He underwent an arthroscopic procedure to clean up loose bodies in his elbow back in August, but the Pirates are hopeful that he’ll be ready to go for the start of spring training. He’s no longer protected from the Rule 5 draft.

Pirates right-hander Blake Cederlind underwent a minor arthroscopic procedure to clean up loose bodies in his elbow.
The 26-year-old is currently recovering from Tommy John surgery and there had been some worry that he would be heading for another, but the surgeon that performed this clean-up operation noted that his reconstructed UCL is in pristine condition. He’ll be shut down from throwing for the next six weeks before he’s able to start building up again.

Blake Cederlind is scheduled to see Dr. Neal ElAttrache in coming days for his recurrent right elbow pain.
Dr. ElAttrache was the physician who performed Cederlind’s Tommy John surgery. A second operation is not being considered at this time. Cederlind appears unlikely to make a return in 2022.

Blake Cederlind (forearm) has been shut down from throwing due to recurring elbow soreness.
Not good. Cederlind has dealt with forearm discomfort during the late stages of his rehabilitation process from Tommy John elbow reconstructive surgery and appears unlikely to return for the Pirates this season.

Blake Cederlind (forearm) has been cleared for mound work.
Cederlind already has one bullpen session under his belt and can progress from here with an eye on joining the Pirates sometime in July. The 26-year-old right-hander is mostly recovered from Tommy John surgery but recently required platelet-rich plasma treatment for some new forearm discomfort.

Blake Cederlind (forearm) is undergoing platelet-rich plasma treatment.
He’ll be shut down for the next 4-6 weeks and can then try to start throwing again. Cederlind developed some forearm discomfort earlier this month, near the tail end of his recovery from Tommy John surgery.

Blake Cederlind has been shut down from throwing for the next 4-5 days due to forearm discomfort.
Hopefully it’s just some kind of scar tissue problem as Cederlind nears the end of his recovery from Tommy John surgery. The 26-year-old righty underwent that reconstructive elbow procedure last March.
