Blake Trahan has announced his retirement from baseball.
Trahan was reportedly a consideration for the Reds’ 60-man player pool, but he informed the team a few days ago that he was calling it a career. The 26-year-old infielder appeared in only 11 total MLB games.

Reds sent INF Blake Trahan outright to Triple-A Louisville.

Reds designated INF Blake Trahan for assignment.
Cincinnati needed a 40-man roster spot for outfielder Brian O’Grady, who is joining the team on Monday. Trahan, 25, has batted just .230/.280/.324 in 323 plate appearances this season at Triple-A Louisville.

Reds purchased the contract of INF Blake Trahan from Triple-A Louisville.
The 24-year-old shortstop was a third-round pick of the Reds in the 2015 MLB Draft. He was batting just .245/.327/.302 with two homers, 31 RBI, and six stolen bases in 129 games at Triple-A Louisville this season and can be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Louisiana-Lafayette shortstop Blake Trahan was selected in the third round (No. 84 overall) of the 2015 draft by the Cincinnati Reds.
Trahan is a defense-oriented middle infielder who played shortstop for Louisiana-Lafayette, though some scouts believe he’s a better fit at second base at the next level. The 21-year-old left-handed hitter batted .355/.455/.465 last season as a sophomore, but he took a slight step back this season with a .315/.424/.406 batting line in 65 games. Trahan also has an advanced approach at the plate, evidenced by his 32/52 K/(BB+HBP) ratio this spring, and he’s stolen 32 bases in the last two years.
  • FA Shortstop #81
Jose Peraza is not in Monday’s lineup against the Pirates.
Blake Trahan will make his major league debut at shortstop and hit eighth. Joey Votto will slide into the No. 2 spot with Peraza out.
