2005 second-round pick Brad Corley homered and doubled twice Sunday for low Single-A Hickory.
Corley is capable of the occasional big game, but the 88/12 K/BB ratio in 443 at-bats is a big reason for pessimism. He’s hitting .284/.323/.436 as a 22-year-old in the South Atlantic League. It’s going to take a big 2007 in order to keep him on the radar.

Low Single-A Hickory’s Brad Corley went 2-for-5 and homered for the third straight game on Thursday.
Corley, a Mississippi State product drafted in the second round last year, struck out a lot in college and 56 times in 265 at-bats in the New York-Penn League last year, but he’s fanned just three times in 33 at-bats so far this season. He’s hitting .303/.343/.606.

Brad Corley went 0-for-6 with four strikeouts in a doubleheader for Single-A Lynchburg on Tuesday.
Corley is looking like a bust two years after the Pirates made him a second-round pick out of Mississippi State. He has major league power, but even though he’s played mostly against younger competition, he has a 171/35 K/BB ratio in 828 at-bats as a pro.
