Rangers re-signed OF Brad Nelson to a minor league contract.
Nelson posted an .861 OPS, 24 homers and 83 RBI in 121 games last season at Triple-A Round Rock. He’ll continue to act as organizational outfield depth for Texas.

Cubs signed INF/OF Brad Nelson to a minor league contract.
Nelson mashed the ball at Triple-A Round Rock in 2012 to the tune of .279/.364/.488 with 24 homers and 81 RBI. He has the ability to play first base and either corner outfield position, and will serve as organizational depth depth for the Cubs.

Brewers purchased the contracts of OF Brad Nelson, SS J.J. Hardy, RHP Luis Pena, RHP Mike Jones and LHP Jeff Housman.
You know about Nelson and Hardy by now. The Brewers are protecting Jones even though he’ll miss all of next season. Pena and Housman are turning into pitching prospects, and both could have been candidates to go in the Rule 5 draft.

Twins signed 1B/OF Brad Nelson to a minor league contract.
The Quad-A masher hit .271/.346/.467 with 20 homers at Triple-A for the Twins last season. Nelson, 31, will provide minor league depth.

Brewers optioned OF Brad Nelson to Double-A Huntsville, LHP Jeff Housman to Triple-A Nashville and RHP Luis Pena to Single-A Brevard County.
Nelson hit a three-run homer against the Rangers tonight to give the Brewers something to remember him by. Unless maybe Dave Krynzel makes the Brewers and opens up a spot in Nashville’s outfield, it looks like Nelson will repeat at Huntsville. The slugger has plenty of potential, but he has a lot of work to do offensively and defensively in the outfield.

Brad Nelson went 4-for-4 with a homer yesterday in his first game since a demotion to Double-A Huntsville.
Nelson probably would have been left at Triple-A to work through his problems if the Brewers didn’t have a prospect as skilled as Nelson Cruz so obviously worthy of a spot on Nashville’s roster. Nelson was hitting .253/.354/.394 in 75 games. His stock is dropping.

Brewers purchased the contract of first baseman Brad Nelson from Triple-A Nashville.
Nelson had a bit better of a year in 2007, hitting .263/.317/.470 with 20 homers in 411 at-bats for Nashville, but he’s still not half the prospect he was a few years ago. The Brewers must not have many prospects they’re worried about losing if they’re going to have him tie up a 40-man roster spot.

Brad Nelson went 4-for-5 yesterday, but he still has just one extra-base hit in 19 games in the Arizona Fall League.
Nelson had 49 doubles and 20 homers in 2002, but after breaking his hamate bone in April, he hasn’t showed any power this year. The Brewers will just have to hope he comes back at 100 percent next year. If it happens, Nelson should be Milwaukee’s left fielder by 2005 or 2006.

Mariners signed outfielder Brad Nelson to a minor league contract.
Nelson will report to Triple-A Tacoma. He was outrighted to the minors by the Brewers last week and opted for free agency instead. The 26-year-old outfielder went 0-for-21 with the Brewers, but hit .354 this spring and still has some potential.

Outfielder Brad Nelson has opted for free agency.
Nelson was outrighted to Triple-A by the Brewers on Thursday but had the right to choose free agency and exercised it. He went 0-for-21 to start the season, but hit .354 in spring training and will draw a little interest from other teams. He was a fourth round pick in 2001.
