    Brandon Mann is joining the Marlins as a pitching strategist, according to SportsGrid’s Craig Mish.
    Mann had been working for Driveline. The 39-year-old briefly pitched in the majors with the Rangers in 2018, allowing five runs in 8 1/3 innings then. He later finished his 17-year career in Japan in 2020.

    Mann is back in the United States after spending the past two seasons with the Yokohama Bay Stars of Japan’s Central League, where he went 3-9 with a 4.27 ERA in 28 appearances. The 28-year-old southpaw was drafted by the Rays in the 27th round of the 2002 and has never played in the majors. He figures to serve as minor league depth.

    Mann worked five scoreless innings of relief for the Rangers last month and has posted a 1.85 ERA across 19 appearances this season at Triple-A. The 34-year-old southpaw might be able to find a more permanent spot in the Texas bullpen this time around.
