Mann had been working for Driveline. The 39-year-old briefly pitched in the majors with the Rangers in 2018, allowing five runs in 8 1/3 innings then. He later finished his 17-year career in Japan in 2020.

Mann signed a minor league contract with the Rangers in early February after spending most of the 2019 season in Japan. The 36-year-old left-hander allowed three earned runs in one inning (two appearances) this spring in Grapefruit League play.

Mann made seven appearances for the Rangers in 2018 before spending 2019 in Japan. He will be on the minor league side of spring camp.

Mann is now off the 40-man roster. He posted a 5.40 ERA over seven relief appearances with Texas this season.

Mann was up earlier this season briefly, allowing five runs over seven relief appearances before being removed from the 40-man roster. The southpaw finds himself back in the majors for the final weekend of the regular season.

Mann is back in the United States after spending the past two seasons with the Yokohama Bay Stars of Japan’s Central League, where he went 3-9 with a 4.27 ERA in 28 appearances. The 28-year-old southpaw was drafted by the Rays in the 27th round of the 2002 and has never played in the majors. He figures to serve as minor league depth.

Mann has registered a 4.54 ERA and a 1.45 WHIP in 187 games pitched on the farm over an eight-season career. The 29-year-old southpaw has spent the past three years in Japan. He’s likely ticketed for Triple-A Indianapolis.

Mann worked five scoreless innings of relief for the Rangers last month and has posted a 1.85 ERA across 19 appearances this season at Triple-A. The 34-year-old southpaw might be able to find a more permanent spot in the Texas bullpen this time around.

Mann was designated for assignment by Texas on Tuesday and passed through waivers unclaimed. The 34-year-old left-hander allowed five earned runs on four walks and seven hits over his first 7 1/3 major league innings this season out of the Rangers’ bullpen. He was drafted by the Rays back in 2002.

He was already in the minors, so this merely takes him off the 40-man roster. Mann made his major league debut in May, 16 years after he was drafted by the Rays coming out of high school. He allowed five runs over 7 1/3 innings in his three stints in the Texas bullpen.
