Athletics signed RHP Brian Gordon to a minor league contract.
The deal includes an invitation to major league spring training, though Gordon seems doubtful to win an Opening Day roster spot. The 34-year-old righty spent the 2012 season pitching for the SK Wyverns in South Korea.

Yankees signed RHP Brian Gordon to a minor league contract.
No word on whether he’ll receive an invite to spring training. Gordon was with the Yankees organization in 2011 and actually made two starts at the majors league level, but he has pitched in the Korean Professional League for the past two years. The 35-year-old figures to serve as organizational depth in 2014.

    Yankees released RHP Brian Gordon.
The 35-year-old right-hander hasn’t appeared in the Major Leagues since the 2011 season and posted a 4.75 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 50/28 K/BB ratio over 77 2/3 innings at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season. It’s unclear if he’ll look to continue his career elsewhere, or if this is the end of the line for him.

Rangers purchased the contract of RHP Brian Gordon from Triple-A Oklahoma.
Gordon didn’t make the conversion from the outfield to the mound until his age-28 season, but here he is in the majors just two years later. He was 4-5 with a 4.56 ERA, 85 H and 51/18 K/BB in 71 IP for Triple-A Oklahoma. Considering that he was a pretty solid outfielder, it’d be interesting to see if he could entice an NL team to carry him as a 12th pitcher/occasional pinch-hitter. His arm alone probably won’t allow him to have much of a career.

Rangers released LHP A.J. Murray, RHP Brian Gordon, LHP John Rheinecker and LHP Bill White.
The Rangers seemed to be pretty fond of Murray, but he never did return after going down in early June with a shoulder injury. Rheinecker missed the season following shoulder surgery. Those are the two the Rangers figure to be most interested in re-signing to minor league deal.

Free agent Brian Gordon went a third straight start without allowing a run Sunday in a win for La Guaira of the VWL.
He struck out eight in seven scoreless innings, lowering his ERA to 2.19. Gordon, a converted outfielder, made his major league debut for the Rangers in September and allowed one run in four innings. He is 30, but his arm is far younger. If he keeps this up, he could wind up with a major league deal this winter.

Yankees signed RHP Brian Gordon to a minor league contract.
Gordon had an opt-out clause in his deal with the Phillies that he could exercise if he is added to another team’s major league roster. The converted outfielder has been terrific at Triple-A Lehigh Valley this season, posting a 1.14 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 56/7 K/BB ratio over 55 1/3 innings. The 32-year-old will start Thursday in place of the injured Bartolo Colon.

The Yankees will take advantage of Monday’s scheduled off day and skip Brian Gordon in the rotation.
Gordon allowed four runs (including three homers) over five innings in his second start of the season last week against the Reds. Freddy Garcia, A.J. Burnett and CC Sabathia will take on the Brewers in this week’s three-game interleague series.

Brian Gordon’s rights have been purchased by the SK Wyverns of the Korean Professional League.
The Yankees will receive cash considerations in return. Gordon, 32, posted a 5.23 ERA over two starts with the Yankees before being sent back down to the minor league last month. It was his first appearance in the major leagues since 2008.
