“I strained something,” Florie said. “I have to find out what it is. I have to ice it again and see what happens [today].” Florie, a non-roster player, is competing for a spot in Florida’s bullpen.

Florie suffered the injury after throwing a pitch during batting practice Thursday. He got hurt again that night while sleepwalking and required 15 stitches in his chin. “I had a bad dream, jumped up in my sleep, and ran into the window,” he said. “I must have hit the windowsill or something.”

Florie has never gotten back to where he was before a line drive shattered his eye socket in 2000. He was out of baseball last year after posting a 5.08 ERA in 83 1/3 IP for Triple-A Sacramento in 2002. The 33-year-old will probably just be competing for a spot on Triple-A Albuquerque’s roster next spring.

Florie had his chances of making the club ruined by a strained intercostal muscle. Hutchinson, who is a candidate to make an impact later this season, surprisingly was given just one inning in an ‘A’ game this spring. Surviving the first cuts were longshots Scott Sanders and Frank Gracesqui.
