Mets RHP prospect Calvin Ziegler struck out seven over 3 1/3 innings for Low-A St. Lucie on Sunday.

Ziegler allowed just one hit -- a solo homer -- and he walked a pair with seven strikeouts. Drafted 46th overall in 2021, the 19-year-old is more projection than finished product (true about most teenagers), but he’s already showing a fastball that can get up to 97 mph with a chance to sit in the high 90s as he gets stronger. He also has a curveball and change that have a chance to be MLB offerings, and he should have average command when all is said and done, as well. There’s a long way until Ziegler is ready, but he’s a pitcher that should be monitored, as he has a chance to be a mid-rotation starter or better if everything works out.
