Dodgers signed INF Carlos Asuaje to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group reported on Thursday that the two sides were close, and now it appears to be official. He’s likely to serve as organizational infield depth for the Dodgers and can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.

J.P. Hoornstra of the Southern California News Group reports that the Dodgers are close to finalizing a minor league deal with Carlos Asuaje.
Asuaje was released by the Cubs back in May of 2020 after signing a minor league deal with Chicago. He’s capable of playing several spots in the infield and in the outfield, but he’s hit just .240/.312/.329 in his brief time in the majors. It’s unlikely he provides anything more than organizational depth in 2021.

    Cubs released 2B Carlos Asuaje.
Asuaje -- who inked a minor league deal back in January -- is one of several cuts that the Cubs made on Thursday. The 28-year-old is a career .240/.312/.329 hitter over parts of three major league seasons.

Cubs signed INF/OF Carlos Asuaje to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.
Asuaje, 28, split last season between Korea and at Triple-A in the Diamondbacks organization. He’s just a .240/.312/.329 hitter over parts of three major league seasons but does have some defensive versatility.

Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports that the Diamondbacks have signed infielder Carlos Asuaje to a minor league deal.
Asuaje was recently released by the Lotte Giants of the Korean Baseball Association. Prior to that, he was with the Rangers organization, and he has also played for the Padres and Red Sox at various levels. He’ll serve as organizational depth for Arizona, and owns a .240/.312/.329 line over 586 plate appearances in the majors.

    Rangers released INF Carlos Asuaje.
Well, they technically sold his rights to the Lotte Giants of the Korea Baseball Organization. Asuaje, 27, stands as a .240/.312/.329 career hitter over 586 plate appearances in Major League Baseball.

Jared Diamond of the Wall Street Journal reports that Carlos Asuaje is close to signing with a team in South Korea.
Asuaje just went from the Padres to the Rangers via the waiver process earlier this week, but it sounds like he’s headed overseas. The 27-year-old is a career .240/.312/.329 hitter over 586 major league plate appearances.

Rangers claimed INF Carlos Asuaje off waivers from the Padres.
Asuaje was designated for assignment by the Padres last week after batting just .196/.286/.280 over 218 plate appearances in the majors this past season. However, he was pretty decent for the Padres in 2017 and plays solid defense, so he could find a home as a backup infielder here.

Padres designated INF Carlos Asuaje for assignment.
The team needed to clear a spot on the 40-man roster for Garrett Richards, and the 27-year-old infielder was the odd-man out. After a breakout 2017 campaign, Asuaje hit just .196/.286/.280 with a pair of homers and 19 RBI in 218 plate appearances at the big league level in 2018. With a plethora of top prospects in the middle infield on the cusp of joining the major league roster, Asuaje was easily expendable for the Padres. He could attract interest on waivers.

Padres purchased the contract of INF Carlos Asuaje from Triple-A El Paso.
Asuaje will get a small taste of the majors after coming just short of a Triple-A championship with the Padres’ affiliate in the Pacific Coast League. The 24-year-old second baseman hit .321/.378/.473 with nine home runs, 69 RBI, 10 stolen bases, and 98 runs scored in 134 games this season at the Triple-A level. San Diego may give him a start or two, but this is more of a 2017-and-beyond fantasy commodity.
