Angels sent RHP César Valdez outright to Triple-A Salt Lake.
Valdez unsurprisingly went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment last week and will likely opt to remain with the Angels as extra organizational relief depth. The 38-year-old right-hander was only with Los Angeles for one game and didn’t wind up getting into that contest.

Angels designated RHP César Valdez for assignment.
Valdez was brought up from Triple-A Salt Lake prior to Monday’s series opener against the Astros and didn’t get into that contest. The 38-year-old veteran righty reliever has been jettisoned from the Angels’ 40-man roster to clear a spot for catcher Chris Okey. There’s a strong possibility that he goes unclaimed on waivers and remains with Los Angeles as extra organizational depth.
