Chris George, today’s scheduled starter, was sent back to the team hotel late in the afternoon yesterday with the flu.
George’s start today is in jeopardy. If he can’t go, fifth starter Darrell May will make his first start of the season.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher
Chris George was demoted to Triple-A Omaha last night.
His roster spot was needed for newly-acquired Mike Wood. With Wood getting a chance to fill the fifth starter’s role, George will have to wait until Darrell May or Brian Anderson is traded before returning to Kansas City.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher
Chris George will be called up to start Tuesday’s game against the Tigers.
Jamey Wright seems like he’d be the better option, but he’s not on the 40-man roster. George shouldn’t be picked up in AL-only leagues.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher
Chris George was tagged for five runs over five innings in a loss to the Angels today.
George is now 9-6 with a 7.11 ERA. Yep, 9-6 with a 7.11 ERA. Despite the won-loss record, he could lose his rotation spot once Kyle Snyder returns.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher
Royals optioned pitcher Chris George to Triple-A Omaha.
A few fifth starters will be sent down this weekend to make one start in the minors during the All-Star break, but that may not be the case here. If Kyle Snyder is able to return from the disabled list a week from Monday, then George could remain at Omaha for a while.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher
    Orioles released LHP Chris George.
George had allowed 13 hits and 10 earned runs in eight innings at Triple-A Norfolk. The former first-round pick hasn’t appeared in a major league game since 2004.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher
Chris George surrendered two runs -- one earned -- in 4 2/3 innings tonight in his spot start against the White Sox.
There’s a good chance that George was making his last appearance in a Royals uniform. He hasn’t showed enough this year to warrant keeping on the 40-man roster this winter.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher
Chris George allowed one run in 6 2/3 innings tonight for his first major league win since Sept. 20, 2001.
Impressive. George is a risky pickup in AL-only leagues, but he may finally begin to fulfill his promise this year.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher
Royals recalled LHP Chris George from Triple-A Omaha.
George may not join the rotation right away, but he’ll probably make at least a couple of starts before the end of the season.
  • BAL Starting Pitcher
LHP Chris George will pitch out of the bullpen for now.
He had a strong finish at Triple-A Omaha winning seven of his last eight starts. George, who was 8-6 with a 3.42 ERA at Class AAA is throwing a 94 MPH fastball up from the 90 MPH one he’s thrown in the past. This may be George’s last chance to impress the Royals as the left-hander is now out of options.
